Do games look good on widescreen tvs or no?

I just recently bought a polaroid hdtv 32'' with picture contrast of 800:1

The contrast ratio has nothing to do with widescreen.  At 800:1 though your blacks probably look grey don't they...

Games developed for widescreen will look great on widescreen. If you play them on a standard television, you'll lose a lot of screen space with those annoying black bars.

When you play non-widescreen games on a 32inch Widescreen LCD it will be like playing on a 26inch size tv. So don't conisder the bars on the side as wasted space, that's just the way things work. You can always zoom a game, but it would cut off important areas.Â
