I never received ish in the form of recovery or install disc when I built my PC 4 years ago from some pos Cyberpower wannabethat is out of business now. I'm doing it myself for the first time. I'm using the same case and hdd, but replacing ram, mb, gpu, and psu. Will it fire up into xp like a plug and play or am I screwed and I needed one of those discs?

If you uninstall everything from device manger before you transfer the HDD it might work, but most likely your going to have to reinstall windows.

So basically I might as well just buy Vista since I have no way to reinstall XP if need be.

In any case, you'll need the OS CD. You might as well order the OEM version with your new hardware. It'll be cheaper.
