I've been spending a lot more time with COD4 to level up, but both are fun. I finally got to level 52 and now have all the weapon unlocked, I want to get to 55, but that is a lot of grinding, so i've been playing TF2 more than usual.
TF2 is easily the greatest and most well balanced team-based shooter ever made. Call of Duty 4 is just another rehashed military shooter along the same lines as every military shooter than came before except this time it isn't set in World War II but the modern day... which is the new World War II.
TF2 is unique, has styIe and a wonderful selection of cIasses for every kind of player... and most of the time, in order to win, you have to be skilled and work together as a team.
I found CoD4 to be more addicting but that is about it, I also refuse to play some of the maps for it because they are just so bad but the one on one combat in the game is much more intense that TF2. However I liked TF2 more, there are tons of crazy and memorable moments in the game, and I like the fact that the game requires team work to win. Its just a great feeling seeing that there are no medics on your team, spawning as one and then knwoing that you are leading your team to victory. And even if there are fewer game types I found the ones in TF2 to be just better designed and more fun. The game also has more variety do to the classes and their interaction with each other.
In the end if you are looking for a team based game go for TF2, but if you are looking for something along the lines of a more noob friendly and actiony CS than go with CoD4.
Call of Duty 4 has a fantastic single player campaign that is absolutely worth playing through entirely. However I don't find the multiplayer to be anything new or exciting. It feels like any other online multiplayer FPS.
Team Fortress 2 absolutely destroys CoD4 in multiplayer. It truly is the most balanced FPS I've ever played. You never feel like one class has the advantage and destroys all others. The attention to detail by Valve in this game is just remarkable. For me, TF2 is the game to go with.
They are two very different games, CoD 4 is a great singleplayer game and TF2 is a great multiplayer game, i like them both just as much as each other.
