Often times when I get frustrated because something didnt go right and my guy dies the tenth time at the same spot, I would start cursing at the monitor. Using insulting language at the montior, sometimes giving myself five or ten minutes to cool down to retry. The end result is the same of each game, I will finish it and with all that anger it pays off as a reward of accomplishment.

Do you guys curse and experience the same with your games?

I've been known to start yelling curses at a game if no one is home. Don't do it with anyone around though.

Yeah, I'm actually the least cool-headed gamer I know. I am WAY, WAY better than I used to be, but the rage still slips out far more often than it should. It's something I constantly have to manage, that's for sure.

I will say though, as I get older, wiser and more busy, I'm finding less and less justification for even playing games that get me worked up. I still enjoy a good challenge, but if something just isn't fun for me, I'll put it down, often for good. In fact, I'm starting to find my other "hardcore" gamer friends rather amusing.

So, hey, you're definitely not alone, but my advice is that you should certainly do whatever you possibly can to keep it in check, even if that means imposing some strict limitations on yourself as far as the types of games you play, when, and for how long. There's nothing wrong with getting mad about something, but you really have to ask yourself whether or not it's worth it, and why.

I usually start getting extremely ragey when I'm duelling or playing FFA in Quake. It's an extremely stressful game.

I stabbed my monitor with a screwdriver once. Still worked albeit with a scar on the upper right corner. It worked, till I punched it so hard I broke a finger. Good NEC 17 inch monitor. Never raged at the monitor after that, cause I bought expensive ones. instead I raged on the mouse and keyboard and the headphones. Destroyed 3 keyboards and 2 mice, till I got expensive ones (I'd never rage on my Deathadder

Yea very often. I'll start out semi-jokingly with phrases like "oh you BASTARD" then move on to things that cant be posted here if I continue to be annoyed

I Think AC: Brotherhood was the game i've screamed at the most at recently. Often during some difficult or finnicky climbing sections I woud be yelling things like "JUMP! JUMP! NO NO OVER THERE! GOD DAMMIT JUMP! *string of explitives* "no CLIMB THAT LADDER. No, THAT ONE"

it got to the point where other people were asking me If was alright. I took a good long break from that game lol.

I put a curse on the developers of Mafia 2 - may they never find their keys again! Terrible for them, considering how much they love driving :D

EDIT: That reminds me: Did Mafia 2 sell badly because it wasn't an environmentally friendly game, with its emphasis on driving to work, instead of walking or public transport? Or was it because it was a crap game?! :(

I usually only get made if a game mechanic is clunky. If I mess up and I know it was my fault, then I'm usually not too mad. If it's like the hacking mini game in Alpha Protocol, then I get pretty frustrated.

No it sold pretty poorly and the reception was mixed.

And here, even though Take 2 tried to defend it.

And a 7.6 for the critics score on GS.

77 on meta-critic is well, it's above average.

Well, lets see here, you have one report where an analyst is estimating that Mafia II won't cover the game's production cost.

And on the other, you have Take 2, who say that the game is starting off great, and that they will make profit.

Jeez, I wonder who knows more about the game from those two.

The game did great especially on PC, where it was one of the most popular PC games last year.

Its a poor score for a game that was in production for 6 years? Its prequel rates about 88. Considering that was 8 or 9 years ago and the advances in technology since then you'd expect the sequel to be a lot closer.

Wouldn't the analyst know more or at least be more honest than a company that needs to protect its image?

Like surely you can see that Take 2 aren't going to admit that their game isn't selling well...

On console it sold under a million on both platforms so I don't see why PC would be that much better.

But thats the last I'll say on it. I'm not going to let this roll on for a few pages because frankly the game isn't worth it. Its a shell of an open-world game.

Sometimes, I guess. The worst time was a space battle level in Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter that I had to literally retry over a hundred times because I kept dying. Let's just say that the air was blue, and it's the closest I've come to putting a fist through a monitor. I don't mind a challenge, but that level was just ridiculous.

Other than that, it's very rare that a game annoys me. If it does I leave it for a while - after all, gaming is all about enjoyable entertainment, at least for me...

Yes, especially when playing console game.

Army of Two in coop made me and my partner go nuts. The Hades section of God of War changed my life, nothing can possibly come close to that level of frustration.

You can judge how well a Take Two game does by watching its Steam sales price.

6 years by a small studio can be 1 year by a large studio. Development time doesn't guarantee quality. Mafia 2 was a quality title though, but it was kind of short, since 2K as ******* who destroyed six years of someones work so they can sell DLC.

It was everything Mafia was and more, only a lot shorter.

No, the analysts wouldn't know more, because analysts are wrong most of the time and they don't have the facts, 2k has the facts and they know how their games fair more than some amateur analysts who write on his blog.

Also, VgChartz is not a reliable source for sales review as they don't actually have access to the numbers, they guess them.

Back then i had a "power" button on my keyboard which instantly shut down my PC, and it was right next to F12 (quick save button for most games) I turned off my PC so many times trying to quick save.

I drop every word in the book. Seriously, I string curse words together that probably should never be strung together, haha. Last semester I got stuck with a Christian roommate that I hated so every time I'd fail a mission in StarCraft I'd yell every obscenity I could think of at the top of my lungs, good times lol. Pretty sure everyone curses at games though...

Not really. Only times I curse a game is if it crashes.

Also, in TF2, I might curse if I get killed by crits several times in a row.

Yeah, when the game is full of bugs or the AI cheats. Of I course all the dev's families take it.
