Visuals don't count for much if your game is a series of still shots you could easily see on any gaming website. So, I got for frames.
Crysis is probably the only one, but at the same time there's something wrong with my GPU, so even at max settings it doesn't run as good as it should be.
frames of course. Who would take a visual slide show over decent FPS. I think the only game Ive tried that I couldnt max with acceptable FPS was Metro 2033 DX11. So at the moment Im pretty good.
The only game I haven't played on max settings is The Witcher 2...I turned everything on uber, and my fps choked. So, I opted for high. I love pretty visuals, but if fps drops to unacceptable levels, the game isn't fun to play for me.
I always go for FPS with multiplayer, but don't mind a bit lower FPS for single player. So 30 FPS single player is perfectly fine for me, which usually means I can crank the graphics up one notch higher. For multiplayer I need 60 FPS so usually bring it down to Medium settings or stick with High but put turn off a few effects. Some effects I pretty much always turn off such as Depth of Field, because it's not realistic during gameplay.

60 fps and full graphics or bust....
i prefer the prettyness, i'm happy with 24fps, if it's good enough for tv shows, it's good enough for games.
of course it aslo helps that my pc is badass enough to have both :)
I prefer to have both. If I ever have to sacrifice one.. then I am not playing said game at it's optimum performance. I'm not trying to be an elitist.. but I can't stand when my frame rates are lower than 60. And I especially hate it when a game has performance issues and stutters. Maxed out or go home. :P And this doesn't mean I'm putting a game on 16xAA.. when 4xAA is all you need. But other graphical options like 16xAF, SSAO, and things like that I'd like to have on. That's why I saved up for a GTX 580 although there will be a game that it might not be able to max out in the near future.
I never saw a game that wasn't "cartoon'd up" -- some worse than others, boardlands and kotor online etc. so I focus more on gameplay, my favourite game has 2003 playstation 2 graphics too so
it doesn't take graphics to create atmosphere, to me most 2D arcade games have more soul than most new titles
I don't think you understand the TC's real question at all. We're not talking about high-end graphics compared to older-looking games. To make this simpler for ya, let's say you're playing Crysis. If you wanted to max it out with YOUR hardware, you will only get 30 fps. But let's say you set it to medium graphics settings, you get 45 fps. Which would you pick? That's what the TC is referring to.I never saw a game that wasn't "cartoon'd up" -- some worse than others, boardlands and kotor online etc. so I focus more on gameplay, my favourite game has 2003 playstation 2 graphics too so

Wow. I will never reply to any of your posts again. My mistake. Good day sir. :)no, I don't think you understand what I am saying
"et's say you're playing Crysis."
lmfao, but can it run crysis ? did you just prove you are most original, indpendent individual on this forum ?
Let me rephrase it, graphics are always gay crysis graphics are gay too and every last game in the world looks like a cartoon -- THEREFORE I'd never care about anything but the gameplay and the game running as slick as possible. Understand ?
The gay cartoon graphics has been an issues since the mid 90's where producers would try and scan real life people into games to get rid of it, some with partial success too

Heck, no. I need playable framerates although "playable" can be well below 30 fps for me. I'll lower the resolution or decrease detail first. With the current PC in my sig, antialiasing is the first sacrifice (followed by stuff such as volumetric clouds) while object/water detail tend to be last on the chopping block.
Depends on the game and if it's multiplayer. If it's a single player RPG then I don't really care out about FPS as long as it's still fluid. So I rather have the graphics set to high and suffer some FPS lost.
Now if I'm playing a competitive multiplayer match then I will turn the graphic settings low to get solid FPS.

@BlackDevil99 - He sure was. :/
@Seanmcloughlin - Yeah he was really out of control. Thanks man. :)
Frames...
Well i will give this example:
http://www.boallen.com/fps-compare.html
Now in a game you will notice it even more as you are in controll. If you turn around in a fps its alot smoother if you simply look at the scenery it wont all "lag".
Not only that it allow the game to sacrifice frames (if you have 60+) lateron so that you can see alot more things on the screen at the same time.
Single player : resolution + highest settings > framerrate.
Multiplayer: resolution + framerrate > highest settings.
For a multiplayer shooter, playing at least at 45+ fps is mandatory, IMO. For a single player game or multiplayer fps I can go as fasr as playing at 20-25 in order to maximize the visual experience. And I play at 2560 x 1440.
Honestly... yes I do. If it gets bad I'll tone it down a bit but I always try run the game as high as possible.lucfonzy
Same as me. I hate having to turn down my games because of bad frames. I played through crysis 1 on maximun at 24 fps just so I could see everything in its glory

I understand why some people don't like it, but yeah 24fps doesn't bother me. I just love oohing and aaaahing at purdy stuffs. I spent far too much time in the water in Crysis and Warhead. Please Log In to post.
