Nope, I can't build PC and never will know how to, I could never upgrade a PC so I'm not going to, I'm just sticking with my cheap PC that was built by some guy, I'm not touching it. The games aren't really expensive either.

Crap Graphics FTW! If I cared about graphics then I can see it being expensive, but for me, PC gaming is cheap and still fun

i paid $1000 for my PC (came with keyboard/mouse and already had monitor) and it runs Crysis on low. of course, i bought this when this rig was considered good, but man it was expensive. not sure whether to say it was worth it or not because I'm never satisfied with gaming unless I have more than one system.

I spent $1050 on a laptop with legal windows software and anti virus and all of that, and it is pretty damn good except when it comes to games it has a nvidia 7150m, which can play a lot of games but in low res and low settings.

I need a laptop because im a student I NEED A LAPTOP END OF STORY, so if i went for a $1500 laptop with the 8600gts it would have taken me back to almost $2000 with software and taxes & i understand how all the components work and how to put them together, but honestly, i want a warranty to cover the entire system and not be hasseled with any problems that may arise.

i game on my xbox 360 (and casually, or what i can on my pc) because xbox games new are $60? ok i'd rather spend the extra buck for no installing issues and instant play out of the box, think of all those wasted hours patching and installing.

still cheaper for console, better sound (dolby digital, dts, etc) better screen, 1080p LCD/Plasma with a brightness level that does the game justice, and splitscreen for playing with buddies.

not to, mention pc's tend to slow down after 1 yr, let alone 4 yrs on the same rig, start up times slow, memory gets more and more used, don't tell me otherwise that is just the nature of pc's u have to defrag and reformat every yr basically to ensure a slight chance of this not happening.

CONSOLE FTW, & topic creator, if u want ease go buy an xbox 360!

argue against me but this just shows how defensive u pc gamers are, i pc game as much as possible, it's just games at the end of the day so lets not boil blood over what everyone's pref is.

besides it's just fun to open up and start up a new console and know it just works! EVERYTIME FOR YRS! and every game is garunteed for the next 6 yrs to run top notch!

The prices of the games themselves are perfectly reasonable. However, having to upgrade your computer/get a new one every so often can get expensive (compared to buying a new consol for $300 or so).chessmaster1989

Depends on how old your computer is. A lot of times, it's just something simple like upgrading RAM or buying a new video card. In that case, it's cheaper than buying a new console. Of course, if your CPU is sorely outdated, you're going to have to do a lot more upgrading or just buy a new PC period.

Well... Usually you can make a motherboard last a long time... Same for ram, except mayne adding some in the future. A CPU upgrade will usually be pretty cheap. Then you can just upgrade your gfx card which will give your PC new life when it comes to games. Sure its more expensive hardware wise than a console... But like has been said you use your PC for more than games, and its really not that much more expensive to keep it up for games, especially if you like a fast pc for other things too.

PC Gaming offers soo much more compared to console. Free online play. Community created content. Sure, we may have to download 500mb patches, but hey, at least I don't have to pay for my maps! You get what you pay for. You don't even need a blazing rig to enjoy games now-a-days. CoD4 on the PC isn't demanding at all. My old P4 3.0ghz w/ 2.5Gbs of RAM and an old 7800GT OC run's CoD4 perfectly fine with fairly decent graphics to!

Each has there own advantages and disadvantages. Ive got a PC(specs in sig), 360 and a PS3. Why limit yourself?

i like console games better, nhl09 isn't even out for pc, and im playing it online for 360 already

not to mention halo3, fable 2, etc etc

i'll also be enjoying lotr conquest with splitscreen coop with my friends on top of all the good features pc has, your spending a considerable amount of money either way, online fees for $60 a yr oh no, i can't afford that oh noooooooo

not to mention i can do starcraft 2 on my kickass laptop LOL

so i get the best of both worlds

NHL09, haha. Can't believe you kids actually pay $60 for an updated roster list with slightly polished graphics.

$60 yearly is nothing. I think XBL should offer more though. Maybe community created mods?

I'm very picky about my games. I always check GS, IGN and other gaming websites for user scores and reviews before I buy any game...Well unless it's the sequel of an excellent game (that I had played).

i voted a little. yes its exopensive..but very worth it imho. theres just something special about PC gaming..harp to put my finger on it though.

in saying that....hardware seems to last longer that it used too and everythign seems to have slown down a bit in terms of technical advancement.

fluffy (see sig) is 18 months old now and i have not overclolced it, nor have i upgraded anything. basically i have not spent a dime on upgrades in all that time. yet it still plays games at a resolution im happy with (1280X1024..my monitors native res) and it maxes out anythign i throw at it..including crysis. i thought i might have needed a second GTX by now..but nope.

and the funny/scary thing is that no game on the horizon, bar possibly empire total war, looks like its going to make me want to upgrade.

im beginning to think that the stupid amount of money i spent on this might actually turn out to be good value :S.

I dont find it expensive at all. Sure it costs more money but when compared to the amount of time i spend on my computer VS my consoles it becomes worth alot more. I only buy a new game every couple of months so that isnt expensive...i bought my new computer for 1400 back in march 2007 with a 8800gts 320mb and AMD X2 3800 and Vista and it has easily 1000 times as much play time as my 360.

for a kid in middleschool.... yes it is sometimes. That's why I buy older games for $20 USD. Oh and bundles. Gotta love bundles. Gotta love pc games. 8) Oh! I also forgot I'm playing on this lousy rig http://www.xfire.com/profile/pvtdonut54 so I have to upgrade really soon. I'm doing everything I can for my family to try and save a decent amount of money because were making a custom one.

Unless you upgrade parts very often, or a new comp a year, I think that cheaper games kind of cancles out the other parts.

as far as hardware goes yes, games no... not hardly

most consoles have maybe 1-4 thousand games, the pc has close to 20 thousand...

if your upgrading or buying a new computer every year you need your head examining as most pc games even in 2009 won't need the latest to run nicely.

not nicely but at max with high resolutions and AA it will...

and some of us hardcore gamers want that... but head examing? lmao funny i think most people couldnt understand the mind if it was laid out infront of them for 6 years in college... hence all the BS counselors and shreinks.

PC is a money-monger machine in case of gaming........cuz we have to upgrade our PC's every year with RAM, G-CARD, PROCESSOR, MOTHER-BOARD.. only to play games as we are GAME-MONGERS. So compared to CONSOLES (like buy one n rest for 3yrs) ya its too much expensive....

depends on what you are doing.. if you buy 40 console games, and 40 pc games, generally speaking you will make your money back on the pc gaming...

not to mention consoles are trying to become pc hybrids. think about it every new generation of consoles is closer to a pc... so whats to say that the next batch of consoles wont have the option to updgrade ram, processor, Gcard as well...

and dont say it isnt possible, look at the n-64, with the little red expansion chip you had to put in to play perfect dark on single player...... i rest my case.

Yes it is because of the PC hardware, of course. Is it worth it? Sometimes. I gladly enjoy the better graphics but I absolutely hate the patch fixes, bugs, and all the atrocious plague of PC issues and problems that come with it. I'm not saying all games, just some. But for the most part, PC gaming is splendid. I love keyboard + mouse so that's a huge plus. I cant wait for the new BenQ Full HD LCD Monitor to full take advantage of my PC gaming. Cheers.

Nope, in comparison, I sell my old stuff on e-bay, Pc gaming is nearly as cheap. Games are more expensive on consoles, accessories and paying for Live. At the end of the day it is not expensive at all. You do not need to upgrade Ram, motherboard, CPU or GPU every year, the only people who think that are retarded console gamers who know little about hardware.

I do not find it expensive at all, I find myself upgrading every 2 years or so and even then I do it in moderation, but for consoles people have to upgrade by buying the new system to play the new games on that console and with a PC depending on what hardware and operating system you are using you can play a variety of games without having to upgrade for a decent amount of time around 5 to 6 years, but that is my opinion.
