Do you install a lot of games on your PC or just the ones you currently play?

Is it a bad habit to install too many games on your PC? Just wondering if anyone else does this.

I recently got more HD space and I've been going all out installing almost everything I have. But like a dork, I see myself admiring my collection instead of playing them. And my PC has gotten slower as well.

But I stopped doing that now and have only the games I currently play installed. Now I actually play them.

Anyway, just wondering where you guys stand on this.

The latter. I don't have a large enough harddrive to store even a significant minority of the (modern) games I own.

Usually just what I'm playing. I'm out of space with the 100s of gigs of 720p/1080p movies and tv shows on my drives. Hopefully that seagate 1tb comes down a little more when the 1.5tb is out.

Oh and you should run a defrag after installing a lot of stuff, probably why you noticed your pc slowing down.

Just the ones I play due to my hard drive being so small (only 200gb) and I have ALOT of music. Music > Games IMO.

I install a game only when I play it, but after I'm through playing it, I only uninstall it if I know I don't plan on playing it again any time soon. I've got around 60 games installed right now.

Installing a game just for the hell of it strikes me as silly.

Same here. I do the exact same thing, except I dont have 60 games. Rofl. I will have 15-20 to add to my collection this year though.

No I just install the games I play and when I'm done I uninstall them. I very rarely reinstall a game.

If you have the disk space I see no reason to not install every game you'll realistically play. Why not? It's not like it's going to slow down your computer just because you are using your hard drive...

Of course, you have to leave some gigs free for Windows to function, especially Vista... (Not sure, 10 gigs? I don't remember), but otherwise, if you got the space, use it!

Also for games that get patched frequently, like WoW and stuff, it's best to leave it on your comp, unless you're 100% sure you'll never play it again. Otherwise you have to go through the painful process of reinstalling and repatching.

I have 3 HDs on my machine. The smaller one I use to Windows XP (40 GB), an intermediate to my mp3 and photos (80 GB) and a huge one for my games (350 GB, almost 25 games installed).

Its nice, but I need another HD faster than mine.

I have a 750gb HDD for this reason, so I don't have to uninstall anything and so I can have all my games ready at my finger tips.

I have 2 300GB HDs on my system. The bootable one is for Windows and games and software. The other one is backup for my media; games, videos, photos, art, my movies, etc.

It works well because I can reformat my bootable when it gets too full and bogged down, and my second HD still has all my stuff on it. I never have to back up anything.

As far as games, I only load it when I want to play.

Two types: The one I'm currently playing, or those that I tend to return to every so often; classics like Fallout 2.

i have a 640 Gig harddrive but i rarely go install happy and download more then 3-4 games at a time probably because when i finish a game and the replay value isnt incredible i get rid of it. im the type of gamer who always needs somthing to do or somthing new to keep me intrested. For example warhammer online will be on my PC for about 3 years lol.

Got about 35-40 games installed at the moment. Not really sure why, as I will only play about 5 of them at any one time.

Yeah, that's the thing, not really sure why either.

I install about 50 games but still play the same ol 5 games I always play. I wonder why I do that. I only see mself checking out my collection rather than play them. I think it's because there are too many so I'm overwhlemed on which one I should commit too. And the 5 games I do play are mostly online shooter, a MMO, and some puzzlers which don't need any commitment to play.

I mainly keep a lot of games in the HDD but I have 2 seperate comps for older games and newer and the ones that fall in the gray area get uninstalled/reinstalled every once in a while.

Nice idea really, one for Windows, music, games. Means all your data is seperate from the OS so if Windows crashes, or you want al your games to be safe should the OS hard drive get buggered then it's a nice array, think I'll try that one in my next machine.

I just install and uninstall games as I play them...that's why I don't really care for the limitations that Mass Effect puts on you. I still bought it, however, and am enjoying it.

Currently, I have enough space to store all the PC Games I have without the need to uninstall any. Sooner or later though, I'm probably going to have to uninstall a couple or two, or just buy a bigger Hard-drive.
