I'll normally create a male character but I've played female characters on occations. Then again, I've also played trolls, elves, aliens and robots :P

I've never had a problem playing a female character or a problem with other males playing females / females playing males. Ultimatly it's a just a game :)

I normally play male characters, but I do play female characters when I just want a change of pace. My teacher said it best for 3rd person games and female characters, "If I'm going to be staring at an ass all day, it might as well be something that I'm attracted to."

Don't understand what the problem would be when it comes to mmos anyways. I don;t even know why they call them mmorpgs to begin with when most of the time theres hardly any roleplaying to begin with. Instead of role playing and feeling like as if I was in the shoes of my character, instead I feel detached, more like I am observing from a distance (which I am) and the feeling I get from customizing my character isn't any different than building model planes. The character on the screen isn't me its just a thing. So whether its male or female shouldn't make a difference to me.

Always female characters unless I have no say in the matter. If I'm going to be sitting there staring at somebody on the screen for an hour or two might as well have it be a character that's easy on the eyes.

[QUOTE="hooded1man"]

Ive got a lot of friends that played/still play WoW, and they all have girl characters. Apparently there to manly to look at men's asses.

Like the guy above me lol it just cracks me up. They aren't babes...

GPAddict

You're just mad because you can't get with 'em. ;)

Pity you can't show all your toons eh? Thats 15k druids amirite? Nice.

As for me, all female but now with dumb names. So sad when being pm'ed by people asking to be their online gf.

Say what you want. Pervert or not, I'd much rather look a hot babes when I play. Its still very enjoyable.

GPAddict
Exactly... if you have to stare at someones behind all the time, it might as well be the behind of something you like to look at I don't play mmo games, so I don't have the problem with guys keeping coming on to me :) For FPS games I don't care what gender you play

Usually in RPG games (like KOTOR, NWN 2) i play as male first then female second to see if anything's different.

No, I never do. Except their was a "girl" last night that I was in a group with, and when a guy left she was like "Cya later bro", and then started acting like a guy. It's confusing really.

I suppose this sounds sexist, but it depends on class.... I would rather play a Female Druid/Mage/Priest or Rogue as a female. Warrior/Paladin ect as male.

Wether you want to take this as perverse or not aswell, in alot of games the female form and actions look really cool? Is that perverse? I dont think so .... in reality you can idolize both male and female heroes... why cant you play one in a game?

Its not like you ARE that character....

I don't play MMO's but when I have the option to customize a character, I usually start with a guy (I'm female). It just feels much more realistic to go around kicking ass as a man than some tall, lanky female- probably because I know it would be completely unrealistic for myself. If I replay, then I do like to switch up the characters and I tend to make a girl second time around.

the only game that I played a female character on is Mass Effect. I have no quarrels against playing with any character models (Elves, male, female, etc.) but i play as a male human 98% of times.

Always...or almost always.

I try to make her look as a girl I know in RL and I am fond of.

If I found sickos, I will try to pretend I am actually a girl in RL...and screenshot their insanity for later abuses! :P

The only time i've chose a female character over a male whas when i first started playing WoW. The way i see it now is if i'm going to be looking at someones ass for hours upon hours it may aswell be nice to look at.

In many MMOs Iv'e played I see a lot of male gamers play as female. Why is that? I'm not sexist or anything when it comes to choosing a character, I just choose male to make things less complicated and the fact I feel like a pervert when I'm playing a female character.MrLions
I have 9 chars in Guild Wars. Only my Necro is a male. All the rest are females. Why you ask. Because I would rather look at a girls ass all day when playing vs looking at a guys ass all day while playing

When i'm putting time into a game like an MMO, I'm going to be looking at the rear end of a avatar for a long time. For me I would rather it be a female rear end than a male.

I don't play MMOs. In single player, I have no problem with playing as male or female. If I can choose, I choose whichever looks better.

I play male characters. Most females are guys irl. No girl wants 14 year old boys to hit on them ingame.

Depends on things like class resistrictions, aesthetics of the character models, etc. In WoW, I've started a few female characters and then deleted them before too long. There are too many character interactions in game for it not to be a bit weird. I play Horde, though. If I were to ever make a paladin, it would most likely be female as I can't stand male belves. Luckily, I like the male models for most of the races in WoW.

Outside of monks, I've always hated the way male characters look in Guild Wars. There's also limited interaction, especially since heroes were introduced. All of my characters ended up being female. Same with in EQ2. Most of the males look like they have down syndrome or something.
