For example, Call of Duty has no story or plot but you're thrown into a middle of a scenario with objectives to accomplish. Whereas, in Medal of Honor Pacific Assualt or Brothers in Arms, there's an actual story and plot that accompanies these objectives you need to accomplish.
Which type of gameplay do you prefer?
For me personally, although the gameplay in Call of Duty is the best and mind-blowingly good, I kind of lean toward more story-driven games. I like how in Medal of Honor Pacific Assualt you play as one single character who narrates his experience during the war. Same goes for BiA where you play as one guy who you play as throughout his story. It makes you care about who you're playing and who you are...and I guess, there's more respect for the game you're playing.
But when it comes to sheer pure fun and mayhem, Call of Duty is the best experience.
Anyway, what are your thoughts about this? This is not just for FPSs but it can be for any genre like RPGs, adventures, and RTSs. I never played Oblivion or WoW, but these games are more scenario-driven, right, kind of like Diablo II where although there's a back-story, the characters aren't really developed but it's more about creating your ownidea of a character by making him/her stronger in the process.Whereas, a game like Dreamfall is more story and character driven that is set by the developers on a more linear path.
Anyway, which do you prefer and why?
