Oh lol...you're a fakeboy.

Nevermind this...

Calling me names? Thanks for proving my point.

I'm not calling you a name...

I'm pointing out the fact that your opinion is so obviously fake that the only reason you're here is to get people to flame you.

You're not worth it.

I always get my Gold subs on eBay for $20.00 for 13 months. At least you don't need to be a paid subscriber on the PC to play online.

I was impressed with Live since I first used it on the Xbox and i gladly pay the fee for a consistent experience across all games. With the other consoles you basically get what you pay for which often equals to not much.

Deihmos

But PCs do online gaming BETTER than MS LIVE. Why pay for an inferior service?

It's just a back-end service just like the gamespy browser included in most games. Gamespy also has a subscription for voice across all games for a fee but it's included with Live for free. The service is free for PC to PC and i don't see how it's any different to what people are use to. If you don't like it just don't buy any games that use it. It's that simple.

It's not that simple. Now only few games use Live but what happens if/when majority or even all games start using it. Then I won't have a choise do I, at least not if I wanna stick to playing on PC. Without Live, games like Halo2 and Shadowrun would most likely work on XP as well, that means that Live is already hindering my gaming experience since I don't have Vista and thus not even a choise to play these game without investing in a new OS ..not legally anyway.

The idea of creating standards like widescreen support for all games or launching a game directly from DVD even while installing it sound nice, so I'm not against the whole GFW concept, but Live just isn't needed imo. The features it offers for Silver users don't differ from out current ones, and the Gold is overpriced and could be done for free as well, when you add to this the possible restrictions in future I don't see how any PC only gamer can be happy about it. I also think keeping online gaming from being monopolized on PC is better, competition thrives development onwards, if MS could make Live a standard they could just sit on it ..and possibly even eventually start charging everyone if they want(and why wouldn't they).

Yes I agree. He started out just asking a question, then over the course of the thread has devolved into sillyness and spouting non-sense.

Just /ignore him, though it seems there are still a few people in the thread actually attempting to have logical discussion.

Me? Look at what reactions I got. Asking a question? Did you even read the topic? Fakeboy? I didn't expect to get 'flamed' for this, Ididn't think everybody here is anti-MS.

And I'm not being logical?

All I am saying is that MS doesn't care about what you guys think. You buy it or you don't, likeI already said a few times.

BTW, I read at least 1 anti-MS topics a day, so I wanted to make a topic to see if some people still appreciate what they do, like I do. I just asked people to sign if they supported Games for Windows LIVE, if you didn't want to sign then you had no place here.

Since Live came on the Xbox it has been the same price with a ton more features. I don't see any reason why they would charge for silver membership or make any changes to the current offering. Right now it's in the early stages and it was released on Vista first with the XP release coming soon. There are more features on the way and I think people should at least try it before they knock it.

I refused to pay for Live on the Xbox also and instead used the tunnelling software to play online. When i tried it my perception to the service immediately changed.

Like I said earlier, it's not a quesiton of money or quality of service, it's a question of, we don't want cross-platform multi-player gaming, and this is exactly what the purpose of Live on PC is.

x2SneakYx

That's what a blog is for.

This is a DISCUSSION forum. People are going to discuss regardless of your intention. You don't own these boards or this thread, you're a propellant for discussion and nothing more.

And this isn't an issue of being anti-MS. This is an issue of wasting money on a crappy service that happens to be run by MS. If gamespot was offering the same service it would suck just as much. It doesn't matter who makes it, it's a rip off and nobody should buy it.

The fewer people that pay for Live the quicker the Xbox becomes extinct and the quicker gaming is saved from the clutches of greed.

This is a bit OT but few questions arose while reading this. When the Live comes to XP, will Halo2 and Shadowrun work on XP too, because I know they have both been cracked to work on XP already so there shouldn't be any technical restrictions except Live and possibly the instant play on H2, and if not, what are the Live games on XP.

Also can you use xfire with games that utilize Live and is there any way(Gamespy?) to play Live games online without actually using Live?

On Xbox, can you play online with the Silver like on PC or do you need Gold? Because it seems to me that MS is not only trying to unite but also to uniform Xbox and PC gaming, meaning what applies to xbox would eventually apply to PC as well.

Over 8 million people pay over 100 euros a year just to play one game, but paying 50 euros a year for a great all in one service like this is wrong?

BTW, bashing MS for trying to make money... *NEWSFLASH* EVERY SINGLE COMPANY OUT THERE TRIES TO DO THAT! IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN DON'T BUY IT!

... stop being so naïve!

^ I'm not a MS fanboy, but you guys are being ridiculous.

I'm glad this topic is getting attention, because it's simply ridiculus to me.

What I don't understand at all is gamers that feel justified in paying Microsoft for a service that EVERY SINGLE OTHER DEVELOPER OFFERS FOR FREE. Even it's console competition PS3 and wii are free. MS offers nothing substancial or worth paying for for this $50 a year or $8 a month.

I'm not anti-microsoft... hell I've got Vista premium and actually paid for my copy of MS office. I pay for a service when I feel it's justified, and in this case, it isn't. You are honestly paying for a service that uses your own computer to host peer to peer games. You are using your bandiwdth to play a game, paying for the game itself... and then, because that simply isn't enough, now feel justified in handing money over to microsoft because they suddenly decide to change a standard of free multiplayer?

Give me a break. If this trend takes off, I'm done with PC gaming.

PC online gaming is so popular that a lot of companies who want to get their name out buy tons of servers for people to play on. We see an ad while the game loads then we play for free. THAT'S what I prefer.

I don't get it...what games charge you to set up a server and play with friends? I do that all the time for free...

Oh wait...I see...you're arguing against GFW LIVE. PC games don't charge and Xbox does...that makes sense.

Umm isn't the whole point of LIVE is cross platform play and showing off your e-penis? Personally I don't want cross platform play and I want the PC and the Xbox360 to be far away as possible. Anyways isn't online play limited to 16 players on all games that came out on live, even on the silver membership? I am glad alot of you **** support that.

Even then how much extra control does MS have over modding and extra content for PC to PC games? As for voice-chat some games support it for free or you could sign up for a service like Gamespy and pay for it. Then there is the fact that buying the extra content from Widows live like arcade games is more expansive than on the Xbox360, so different pricing policies are already happening.

BF2/2142 has "achivements" and they're free. So what you're saying is if BF2/2142 was a Windows Live game the achievements would not be free anymore?

I used to be supportive of the service, but since my Gold trial ran out, finding a game of Shadowrun is nearly impossible, and Halo 2 fo Vista won't even boot up after re-installs, driver wipes/installs. I'm waiting til the games come out to support it, but til then I'm gonna have to prefer the free stuff PC Games have always had. And sure you can say Silver is free, but Live at the Silver level is not even worth mentioning.

bf2/2142 does not have Achievements. Bf2/2142 has medals and awards, with good stat tracking. There is a big difference.

If the whole point was cross platform every game released would include it.

I agree.

I agree to. Mainly because it is so simple that Live should be totaly free and that's all there is to it. Not much to discuss.

And it iswith the exception of cross platform and multi-player achievements but I guess that should be free too.

I say 50% is very good, with the Petrolygraph RTS it bums it up to 66%

Anyways read more than the first sentance, silver is inferior to what's already available
