Undoubtedly considering the long history of the Elder Scrolls series and the consistently good reviews its had. Its been five years since Oblivion so all that hype has been building up for this game. It'll sell truckloads.
People liked Oblivion because of mods, and forget that it took three mods to fix the > 10,000 bugs Bethesda left in the game after they stopped supporting it.
I think that's a bit of a massive over exaggeration.People liked Oblivion because of mods, and forget that it took three mods to fix the > 10,000 bugs Bethesda left in the game after they stopped supporting it.

I never installed mods onto my copy of oblivion and still loved it, and I don't know where you are getting this "10,000 bugs" idea from. Sure Oblivion had some bugs, but not enough to make a fuss about IMO.People liked Oblivion because of mods, and forget that it took three mods to fix the > 10,000 bugs Bethesda left in the game after they stopped supporting it.

They can produce, with consistency, broken, garbage, terrible games, and they all get great reviews and sell amazingly. :)InconsistancyI tend to agree with this, but as someone said they are two very different sub-generes. For me personally the Witcher series is unappealing because it has not character customization and TES because I'm not a fan of sandbox games. If Skyrim can make a decent main story (read: 15-20 hours minimum) unlike Oblivion then I'l probably pick it up.

Apparently you never had the game - I bought it at release, and installed over 70 mods. Three of them were the mods that fixed those 10,000 bugs.
I take it you never heard of the UOP, UOMP, and USIP mods.;)

Try scanning through the Wiki that is used by so many Oblivion players as well as a lot of Bethesda forum members as a resource for answers. Thousands of entries are posted there where the mods fixed bugs.
Oblivion is one of my most played games, it was great! My biggest qualm was the voice acting in certain situations was laughable, but anyway I believe that it plays just without any mods at all, but that's just me I suppose. Oh well.
TW2 was fantastic, but I beat it in under 30 hours, I didn't play it nonstop for over a hundred hours like I did with Oblivion.

^ It is a massive exaggeration allright ;) Might as well insert the "not sure if serious" pic.Skyrim has to be about a hundred times better than Oblivion for that to happen. That's because that's where the Witcher 2's general league is.
If you're talking about scores and sales then of course Skyrim is going to be more successful. All they have to do is put in a lot of useless landmass and keep the infantile writing and they'll have taken the pants off 95% of all the critics despite generally having more bugs in their game than a bloody anthill. Get a big name and a large marketing budget and you're going to have to fall pretty far if you want to piss off the reviewers.
Will Skyrim be good? Probably, I know I'm buying it for the mods alone. Will it be a better RPG? Not a chance in hell given how Bethesda wants to make the series more of an action adventure with RPG elements.
thats what makes it a great game, the open ended modability. Its basically an excellent mod platformPeople liked Oblivion because of mods, and forget that it took three mods to fix the > 10,000 bugs Bethesda left in the game after they stopped supporting it.

...hah. I'll take an open world RPG where you can walk around the world encountering NPCs, quests, and dungeons as you will... rather than being pigeon-holed into an established character and propelled through narrative-heavy branching corridor. I can only imagine how you're fooling yourself into thinking a TES game is less an RPG than a Witcher game. Will Skyrim be good? Probably, I know I'm buying it for the mods alone. This tells me you aren't a member of the Bethesda forum. Those that are have access to a lot more info.

And make meaningful choices that greatly effect the game world. Can't say the same thing about Skyrim.[QUOTE="Whiteblade999"]

Like most people here, I agree that Skyrim will definitely sell more more copies than Witcher 2. Bethesda is a well established company as is TES series. CDProjekt only has 2 games under their belt.
Now, as far as which game will actually be a better game, that remains to be seen. Personally, I think comparing the two would be like apples and oranges. TES games are completely open world games while the Witcher games are linear, plot-driven games.
Have no idea but, I do know Skirim has one of the best trailers around.

It never gets old.
it will do great day 1, atleast counting retail... but then it will flop since it doesnt seem to be bringing what the fans want. I hope im wrong, but skyrim sounds like a huge dissappointment waitning to happen.
No way in hell. I love the Elder Scrolls games but. Skyrim is a console game, it will just be like a Oblvion 1.5. It wont even come close to the quality of a game like W2.
What quality? You mean not being able to break open doors, or jumping over small obstacles, or being faced with 1000 invisible walls? No way in hell. I love the Elder Scrolls games but. Witcher 2 is an amazing game and I'm looking forward to the DLC (seeing as how it's free). Playing through it a second time (though I decided to do it on hard again because I really cbf doing insane incase I die again and have to start again) and it's just as awesome as the first playthrough.
That being said I think Skyrim may be the better game overall (though Tbh I prefer the Witcher storyline based on both games and the books I've read). Vanilla it will probably be a great game but it no doubt will be amazing with mod support (I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few graphics problems and such on release. Just have to wait for those texture packs :D ) and hopefully they release some expansions (like shivering isles, Tribunal, Blood moon) to keep the gameplay going. Provided they are actually proper expansions, not just some horse armour and 30 mins of quests for full price derp derp derp. I did like Oblivion, though it did have its downsides but overall it was a solid game (I still prefer morrowind). So as long as bethesda doesn't completely dumb skyrim down and make it some action adventure game with dual wielding cannons, then I have no doubt it will be incredible.
I'm certainly someone who thinks DA2's design makes it difficult to RP Hawke, and I would likely have the same complaints about TW2.

Every game has issues, those are W2 issues. Thats not going to stop W2 from being much better then skyrim. Hell just look at all the interviews. Skyrim is going to end up being a disapointment just like Oblivion.

lol every game has problems yes but thats such a weak excuse, because some like the WC2's issues are more noticeable and severe and more likely to hamper playing time.This. As for the quality of the game, hell, I'm going in blindfolded. Although, I expect it to be much better than Oblivion. I was never a fan of Oblivion. I just could not get into no matter how times I've tried. Likewise dude. I have tried so many times to get into Oblivion, but i never really got into it. I didn't like it.[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"]In sales? Yes.Elann2008
