I'm inclined to say 10 years. Maybe even less. I can actually picture the scenario: Blizzard releases another expansion every year, people get fed up with having to grind and raid all over again, people quit.

Then again,Blizz could stop making expansions for atleast a year.

Not until the financial backers choose to pull the plug. That won't happen until WoW isn't earning money any more. And it only takes a few hundred thousand to run in the black.

WoW could easily run for the next fifteen years, or even longer.

Blizzard still run servers for EVERYTHING

Diablo, diablo 2

somehow i would doubt if they'd abandon it while theres still a player base

maybe amalgamate servers though,

I don't know about zero players but people will eventually move on. I've never heard of a MMO having no players at all. Even the ones that fail and have to shut down still have some die hard players still on.

i hardly think WoW will ever end. Maybe in a 100 years because if the current Wow gets old they will probably make many other series. Another reason that Wow wouldnt die out is that there are many people who are addicted to Wow right now. Also many other ppl who plays this game which means blizzard will get a lot of support for making the continuation of Wow.

I think it's safe to assume that WoW will be going for a very VERY long time. 15+ years easily.

Look at ultima online and the original Everquest if you need an example. Both have been running for over 10 years. Everquest even has a SEQUAL and that still hasnt stopped the old EQ community from sticking together, and even growing in some cases.

There's always players playing some game, no matter how old it is. I have no doubt in my mind that someone is playing on their Atari 2600 somewhere in the world right now. WoW will most likely stop being rediculously popular somewhere around 2010 (or earlier), but it won't die out completely for a long while.

MMO's tend to stick around longer than a decade. Just pick any popular MMO.

Yeah and there are some people that are just major fans of games... I have a friend that still plays Starcraft and only Starcraft and it was released over a decade ago... I think there will people on it as long as Blizzard has their servers running... especially if 5 years from now it becomes free to play online or something of that sort...

Look at Anarchy online, most people thought this mmo was dead but they keep pushing out the addons and the next one will totally update the graphics to the original.

Wow will be around 10 yrs or so but with a small group of players since the bulk of players will be playing Wow 2.
