I don't want an MMO.. we get a fantastic game when they release them and now with an MMO they will have monthly fees like the rest of them. I don't play MMO's because I don't have the time to put into them on a regular basis so the monthly fee isn't worth it. I'll pass and wait for the next Elder Scrolls that will be single player.Rattlesnake_8
The problem is that unless the MMO is a complete and total failure, that ends up with literally no paying subscibers after a year or so, then "the next single player elder scrolls" won't happen. That's what companies do with MMOs. They'll put out a TES MMO, and if it's even moderately successful (making them any kind of regular profit from the subscription fees), then they'll start churning out expansions, and never make a single player game again.
Yeah I was wondering why the game didn't ship with online MP :PElder Scrolls reeks of MMO from their recent games anyway. Dull, shallow, and sometimes broken combat, huge world to explore that offers almost nothing for doing so, mundane quests, a world that barely changes, and an uninteresting story. Why it took them this long to finally convert it is beyond me.
It'll probably be the buggiest MMO of all time, but then again it's not made by Bethesda.

I just played some Skyrim for the first time in two months.
Made me HATE HATE HATE the MMO.
Whoever greenlit this was an idiot. It goes against everything TES means today (and I'm not talking about singleplayer). It's already outdated. I hope TOR crashes and burns faster so they go back to the drawing board with TESO.
And I'm still pissed that Cyrodiil is not the jungle empire it was supposed to be until Oblivion!

The thing is, Bethesda is not making the MMO, leaving them free to make another TES single player game.[QUOTE="the_bi99man"]

I just saw more info about the game and now I'm totaly backpedaling about my initial feelings on the game. Due TES Online will:
# NOT SUPPORT first person view.
# NOT USE real time hit detections (is % based).
# Will use the weak and outdated HERO ENGINE (SW:TOR).
...And will not allow the players to have their own houses and similar propierties then the game will e nohing that a generic MMO with subpar visuals and subpar combat system -you could argue that Skyrim combat system isn't the best, but still is better than the typical % in MMOs-.
Now is clearly outside my radar; will only try it if is f2p.

If the game doesn't support 1st person view, no real time hits and using the % based combat and if it doesn't even use the Creation Engine, then why would anyone get that game? It would just be another WoW clone and the modding community is already cranking out mods which allow online play in Skyrim. I guess most TES fans will continue playing Skyrim, especially when Dawnguard and the other DLCs are released.
Additionally, I hate the art style of the game and it looks much diverted from TES lore.

Why not? The mods are still in beta phase but so far they're running perfectly, except the lack of animations.
I want a sandbox Elder Scrolls MMO. This looks like it's a theme-park Elder Scrolls MMO. So, it's an 'Elder Scrolls' MMO only in name. Way to kill the franchise.
Bethesda has always maintained that they would never do this. It makes no difference if a subsidary studio is doing the development: It's an obvious cash grab, a complete betrayal of their original fanbase, and will consume valuable resources that could have been put towards the single player series. It will also surely violate canon in massive ways.
But it's going to happen. Just as sure as Bethesda has casualized the main series, they will try and cash in on whatever untapped demographic they can find.
There are other games out there similar to TES, maybe not as good but my guess is that if the demand is there, more developers will step up to fill the space that Bethesda will leave. If it happens, The last hope for the industry of gaming has successfully vanished like seeing a stone beeing dropped down in to the ocean. That will most likely mean me quitting playing games and start doing something else.

tes games already play like mmos, except that there is no people in them

Nope. The art style isn't as caartoonish and the combat is real time. And in MMOs, you can't kill people freely or mod it either.

I'm guessing WoW is the only MMO you have played.[QUOTE="i_saw_a_mudcrab"]

wha... what the hell did i just read?
No, not even a little bit. I think it's a lame idea. Seems like developers are making MMOs these days thinking that it's an instant cashcow, but I bet Bethesda would get so much more interest if they just made a real TES game with multiplayer.
Some people really need to learn how to read. Bethesda Game Studious is NOT making the MMO. Zenimax Online is making the MMO.Bethesda has always maintained that they would never do this. I'm guessing WoW is the only MMO you have played.I never touched that game in my life. And FYI, the only MMOs I have played in my life are LOTRO, Guild Wars, Runescape, Rift, Tera, Age of Conan,The Old Republic and Darkfall. Yes, that's it. And as far as I know, I have yet to play an MMO where I can kill the closest guy standing next to me in a palace.
