So i know wired 360 controllers work just fine...plug it in and go

but what about wireless ones with the play and charge hook up? i plug it in and my PC makes that noise and says it's connected, but the controller doesn't light up and none of my games recognize it when i try to play a game with it

any help would be appreciated...thanks guys

Nope. Doesn't work.

You need the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver For Windows to use wireless controllers.

It's pretty retarded how it doesn't work. It should work the same as a wired controller. o.O

lame....dumb because my PC even recognizes that it's a 360 controller plugged in via play and charge because that's what it literally said....if it knows what it is i dunno why we can't use it

bleh...better off just buying another wireless controller i suppose

The play n charge cable only draws power from the PC. It does not send any signals to the PC in the way of controls. It would probably be much more expensive if it did.

It recognizes it as a device that can be charged via USB. You can charge it just fine, but that's ALL that the cable is good for. When a wireless controller is plugged into a 360 with the play & charge kit, I'm fairly sure the input data is still going to the console wirelessly.

You need Microsoft's receiver to use 360 input devices with your PC. Microsoft used to sell the their wireless receivers for Windows separately for around ~$14, but they started to only package them with a controller. Pretty lame.
