I bought the game a few days ago, but I have to say I'm kinda bored of it. The map is big, and there is so much to do, and I posted this thread to see why those who play like it. Post!

Guild Wars is a deep experience and it's easy to feel somewhat lost in the begining. All I can tell you is keep upgrading your armor and weapons and keep doing quest accumulating gold. I have played the Guild Wars series since beta and eagerly await Guild Wars 2. I hope it gets better for you.

The reason why I don't like Guild Wars I think is because I was so used to simple ancient games like Diablo 2 LOD, and Guild Wars is such a new experience. I was thinking I would like it better if it had a good pvp system, and I have heard it does have one, but the number of quests is enourmous, am I right? That means I have to spend hours trying to finish a map which doesn't even seem to begin to be the beginning.

Yeah, you are definitely not on rails, and it's hard to tell which quests are important at first. In all 3 games, the newbie area is pretty big, so you can get bogged down in it. I'm guessing you bought Prophesies, which can be the most consuming. The truth is there is not much that's important in the newbie areas. Factions and Nightfall have better newbie areas because there are missions, and there are more important quests and such. If you started in Prophesies, most people are done with the newbie area by like level 3-5. There's not much there that is important except 1) Adventure with Ally (easy quest that gets you the rez signet, which is the most important skill in the game). 2) Picking your primary and secondary profession and getting all the available skills. 3.) Doing the one quest where Dwyana (that names wrong) gives you a free skill point. After that, just leave the newbie area. I think the Quest is "continue the fight" or something. I feel you though. I too bought GW Prophesies, and I stayed in the newbie area way to long. I did every quest and got every piece of collector's armor. It's all pretty much useless though. Best to get out and try to earn enough gold for some better armor. Then get rocking on the missions (which are one of the things that makes GW unique). This site is indispensible when it comes to all things GW related. Always look here if you are stuck. This checklist has fallen into disrepair, it contains the things I mentioned plus a few (Devona is her name). I don't know if I would bother with the Charr bag or the Tapestry Shred however. Anyway, get out of the newbie area whatever campaign you are on and do some missions with people or do quests with henchies. I'm not promising you will love it, but it isn't all as directionless as it seems in the beginning. In fact, most people skip a lot of major areas and just do missions and critical quests, especially early on when the reward level is so low.

Yeah, I have it and bored of it pretty quickly.

The newbie area was pretty much pointless.

The Quests are really long as well in this game...Lots of walking. It's nothing like Diablo 2, where the action is a lot faster.

Though, I may start it up again, just to get to level 20 and try PVPing.

lost and bored are two completely different feelings. I definately felt bored. GW is about as deep as a teaspoon.

Try doing the main quests to advance the story. It usually helps cause the side quests are distracting, don't offer too much xp (in the beginning mostly) and the game definately picks up the pace later on. If you have the original GW (Prophesies), the leveling in it is the longest of all the 3 GW campaigns but definately most noob-friendly.

My advice is to try and get yourself into a good community based Guild. Iv been in my guild for 1 1/2 years and if it wasnt for the guild I dont think I would still be playing the game.

I had guild wars factions and loved it for a while but eventually just got bored of it and my friends also lost interest so we kinda moved on.
