Unreal Tournament 3 had a story mode which was offline matches with cutscenes. And the last three Battlefield have throwaway single player's with no signs of improving. So does every fps need a single player mode in a multiplayer driven series? I love single player games and I preferred them to multiplayer games. But a call for games such as titanfall needing one is absurd. If Respawn had the resources like they did before they broke off with Activision, they might have created a decent single player. Maybe they could create modes with kaiju’s or mechs that turn into tanks or jets. There are enough fps(or just first person) that are single player only, like DXHR,Fallout or Dishonored. And there are other genre's who still don't have a single player, such as most fighting games for example.

For 60$ ya, even high profile games like CS GO without the campaign is only 15$

It's a thing they can put on the proverbial box and on the trailers to promote the game to audiences who aren't already Battlefield fans for example.

No.. As long as it provides enough content that warrants the price tag and they are up front about it not having a campaign mode, I see no problem with it..

Yes, because the MP of games is never at the level of expectation. To be frank, MP has never really delivered much value in FPS for me... which is why I've stopped buying at full price, 25-30 euro is the maximum I pay for FPS games (some titles even lower ...). Honestly speaking, the last game that deserved full price was UT2k4 ... which was more than a freaking decade ago ...

why dont they just split it up? if people just want SP then just sell them the SP. if they just want MP then just give em SP. if people want both then maybe offer a package deal.

if there is enough MP content there to warrant 60 quid then it shouldnt need an SP component. for an MP focused game the SP probably offers very little value to a lot of buyers so it makes no difference.

Very tricky one to call.

On one side, BF4's SP campaign was awful, yet their MP is great.

On the other side, Titanfall should have had Co-op or SP to warrant the full price tag.

Nope. BF franchise sold millions on multiplayer alone before they added shitty campaigns

BF had zero singleplayer content until they brought it to consoles.

No. But those days are gone. Better off pricing it for $30 or $20 and boast that you get everything without grinding.

I think it depends entirely on what the game's multiplayer is offering. If it has no campaign I'm expecting to be a LOT more well fleshed out maps, and a much larger variety of weapons and customizations.

I enjoy sp campaigns, so at $60 I do expect one..

However I would still be happy getting a amazing (with more content) multiplayer and no sp, instead of an average sp & mp modes..

Depends on the person. I'm more of a single-player gamers so without a SP campaign I just won't buy the game, let alone at $60. Then again, these mainly online shooters with tacked on campaigns tend to be mediocre anyways.

@TheShadowLord07: I haven't played a campaign on an fps game in a long time. I think they should just not make campaigns for fps games like Battlefield, or COD even though I don't play cod anymore, and just put more time into making the online multiplayer better.

I have rate Titanfall correct and did not complaint about its price and no campaign. But for COD, I doubt it's going to receive a good score without a campaign.

I almost always play singleplayer before jumping into multiplayer. I hate how game developers are shoehorning multiplayer into games that should remain focused on singleplayer.

That said, I personally can't think of a time I would pay $60 for an online multiplayer only experience. Since split screen multiplayer is becoming rarer every year, these multiplayer only games are useless without an awesome internet connection.

I need to feel there's good value when I purchase things. I love Killing Floor. Killing Floor 2 is in early access on Steam right now, and it's $30. When it's officially released,I'll probably buy it. As it is now, I don't feel there's enough content to justify the price.
