Don't buy EVGA

Just letting you guys know I purchased a EVGA card off eBay lasted me a good year. The card itself had a lifetime warranty. However there was a catch to it you had to be the original owner. Meaning they would not honor their warranty. However XFX on the other hand offers the same warranty no matter the owner, location purchased. Meaning you could have found their card on the ground or in the trash they WILL cover it unlike EVGA. Meaning if you're looking for a REAL life time warranty no matter where you found the card, its age or owner I wouldn't look at EVGA.

This alone is a good example of the quality of parts purchased from a manufacture. If they can't cover it no matter the owner or location found how confident could they be in their parts lasting as long as they should or honoring their warranty?

I bought a Honda Civic off of CarSoup.com. The car was used, had 75K on it. I had the car a year and the transmission died. The car now has 90K on it, but the original warranty coverage only lasted until 60K and only worked for the original owner!

It's no one's fault but your own for not reading up on how EVGA warranty works.

Evga is still pretty good if you follow their strict guideline rules. Well dont fret I guess there is always msi, pny, etc. I heard xfx is takes a while to replace your card though since the double warranty honor puts a lot of stress on them.

Good for you. EVGA are great. It's not their fault you bought a video card off of eBay and expect them to warranty it.

Couldn't disagree more. I've had nothing but the most incredible experiences with EVGA in the past. I had a Geforce 7950 years ago that I stupidly fried with a cheap PSU. No original receipt, didn't register the card, but they still took it in and replaced it with an 8800 GTS 640 free of charge.

That is YOUR fault for not buying from an authorized vendor, buying used, and not understanding EVGA's clearly posted warranty guidelines. No sympathy.

You do know that XFX lifetime warranty does not apply if the product wasnt registered within 30 days of purchase? So no you cant just pick out an XFX card from the garbage and claim warranty on it.

But yes double lifetime warranty has always been a touted feature of XFX cards as it increases the resale value of the card but as someone else said it is just ONE vendor offering that. What EVGA is offering is still better than most so it really seems a very stupid reason to hate them. :?

Theres a difference between a fake lifetime warranty and a real one. If you can't find a card on the ground and warranty it, it isn't a lifetime warranty now is it? I am sorry but its faulty advertising. Heck XFX cards are even cheaper and come with a real lifetime warranty. If you promise a lifetime warranty but require the customer to jump through loops it isn't worth my time. I know it's my fault for not doing my research but it clearly shows me the real difference between a lifetime warranty and a fake one.

Yes XFX offers a lifetime warranty no matter where you got the card or who owned it. They honor the card not whoever owned it first. There's a difference between honoring the owner and honoring your reputation and hardware. It clearly shows theres a higher resale value in XFX cards.

Good for you. EVGA are great. It's not their fault you bought a video card off of eBay and expect them to warranty it.

Both EVGA and XFX are fantastic card makers.

Both have excellent warranty options.

If you are somewhat reasonable with it... I usually side with the consumer, because out of the 3 cogs in the system Consumers get screwed the most!

But this is all at fault of the consumer. I cannot agree with you TC.

EVGA is a very fine brand when it comes to making quality pc parts, same could also be said abotu XFX.

I know this from experience, my GF's current rig is running an XFX HD6870. Mine is running an EVGA GTX570. Both cards are excellent GPUs. Very little issues (if any at all) out of them!

Last but not least.

Neither of the Life time Warranties are Fake!!! They are both Fantastic warranty options, just XFX has the warranty that would benefit you more personally atm. Which in essence is pretty much what you came here B&Ming about. Don't come telling people not to buy a quality product, just because you made the wrong choice on which card manufacture to buy a USED card, and expect it to have a (non stipulation) Life time warranty.

Why would you buy an evga card off of ebay knowing it was used and expect the warrenty to still be valid when the card is being used by a second person, that is not evga's fault it is yours second don't buy gpu's off of ebay, plus for the record i already voided my warrenty on my gtx480 being that i wc and it still works fine i can careless about warrenty policies as is unless it breaks in a month thats a diff story.

Also this is a terrible reason to not like the company.

Lifetime warranties that are valid only to the original purchaser is quite common among all types of products (not just electronics)

Why would you buy an evga card off of ebay knowing it was used and expect the warrenty to still be valid when the card is being used by a second person, that is not evga's fault it is yours second don't buy gpu's off of ebay, plus for the record i already voided my warrenty on my gtx480 being that i wc and it still works fine i can careless about warrenty policies as is unless it breaks in a month thats a diff story.

Actually, as long as you haven't damaged the PCB and still have all the hardware (heatsink and screws) your warranty is still valid. EVGA's warranty covers the removal/replacement of the heatsink and TIM.

Right now I am seeing the difference between XFX and EVGA as a car dealership. One would cover your car no matter the mileage the other will only cover the first owner even if it was never driven before.

because cards that people sell are more likely to have something wrong with them. I know it is hard to believe but people treat things that aren't their primary (insert whatever it is here) less well than their primary.

Lifetime warranties are a US only thing, so consider yourself even lucky.

Don't buy EVGA *used* (if you do buy their B-Stock). They have amazing products, amazing support and are just flat out an awesome company. You don't even void your warranty with aftermarket VGA cooling as long as the stock heat sink is put back on before doing an RMA. Telling people not to buy one of the best made products on the market because they don't cover 3rd party card transactions is just silly.

just so everyone knows in California "Life Time Warranty" means only 7 years. just saying.

and also i think teh reason EVGA didnt warranty the cards because you got it off ebay. how do they know the old owner didnt do something to it and sold the card. how do they know it wasn't baked because it died already. i think your the one who got suckered into buying a used card online without the original.

hell when i sell my GOUS online i give my orginal invoice and tell the person who buys my card,to call as if i was calling and that i moved to a new location if they ever asked. becuase who will they know?

meh even so i'm going to be replacing a few things come jan when i get my income tax return might save up for sock 1155 or even go down the 2011 route.

EVGA is the only brand I buy graphics cards from because they have excellent customer service and support. I dont think it's wise to purchase a graphics card from ebay unless it's through a retailer like Newegg or Tigerdirect. EVGA wont honor warranty on an item purchased second hand because they have no idea what the original owner might have done to it.

either way this thread is pointless, he obviously brought a gpu from ebay, if evga did not acknowledge to warrenty because it was owned by the first party it's his fault no one elses evga is a great company i had my gtx 480 for a year now i watercooled it 3 months ago and have had no probs so there is no point in this thread hands down, to complain about a warrenty knowing that you have purchased it from a second party is just a no brainer.
