don't buy games from steam

if you have a problem with steam games installing, they don't help you its just bad luck. So you don't get to play your game, so now you know this is your warning. Crysis wars hasen't worked for days and they ignore me. all my other games work but they only say its my connection, what a joke.

I've read some bad things on the Steam forums about games not working.

If I were you I'd just buy Valve products L4D, TF2, HL2, ect they support those more.

I hate bad luck, it can really ruin a person's gaming. :cry:

Maybe your PC can't run the game, or windows needs reinstalling.

I ran the game maxed out for over 2 months, now when they patched it they messed it all up, it won't download because the patch wiped the game out for some reason and they won't tell me how or why. Its their program they should know how to get it to work.

And if you buy the game from a store and it doesn't work, you have bad luck. I don't really see the difference.cd_rom

no, see it did work then they sent a patch that uninstalled it, and now I can't install it back. I ran this game for 2 months problem free. So before they patch a perfectly working game they should be prepared to handle mistakes. It wasn't that it simply didn't work. It wouldwork if I could install it.

should i digitally download it from the EA website, its my favorite game. Or should i get the disc. I can't believe this.

I only buy Valve's games.

Ive never had any problems besides some glitches in TF2

yes, thats the whole problem, but I give up, no more steam , and if anyone else has a problem, they will see, its a nightmare, but i hope you don't.

I have 39 games from steam, and only frontlines gave me a bit of a headache. I had it up and running within an hour though.

I've bought numerous games from Steam without a single problem.

i have 83 games on steam, including old dos games that habe been make perfectly compatable, and brand new games that are running perfectly in concert with other programs like live.

in the 5 years iv been using steam, no it hasnt been flawless, but any problems have always fixed them selves and its now working perfectly.

on the other hand, i bought mirrors edge from game yeasterday, and the disk is a duff, it wont read the first file it needs to copy because the disc is not made properly, on top of that i bought dreamfall from game last year, whuch was a duff, starforce wouldnt authenticate it on any pc i tried to install it on. and game wouldnt take it back.

Steam is a new way of selling games, its goina have some teething problems, but its a rely good servace, and it does, most importantly solve the problems of piracy rely well. once everyone has atleast a 5 meg connection in a few years, it will become a whole lot more appealing.

pcgames have always been a **** to make work, i owned quake 3for 6 months before i got it to work.but this is a new inovative and exciting service. and iv been rely happy with it.

35 games on steam and no problems so far, at least none steam related.

Make sure the game is really uninstalled. If it isn't delete it (the folder) and install it again, if it is uninstalled completely, I don't know, I never had any problems with Steam, only the client which is a relic compared to what is really needed for it to be the real client for the leading digital distribution platform.

Gamer's Gate, GOG and Impulse are better than Steam.404-not-found

Agreed. I've used both. I downloaded a game from GamersGate that locked-up my PC. Just two emails explaining the problem and I got a refund.

Impulse is updated regularly, and I've never had a glitch with it.

Youre post should be dont digitally download EA games. I had the 2142 expansion downloaded though the old EA service, when they shut that down I lost the game that I paid for.

Steam is just a delivory service, go talk to Crytek if you have a problem with the game. I haven't had any problems.markop2003

its not a problem with the game, its a problem with the download, it won't. I should at least get an answer. Steam didn't even supply that.

Thats why you shouldnt buy them at full price, but instead wait for the week-end specials, thats how I got HF1 for 1$ and the orange box for 10$ which are both completly worth it even though there arent any cases or manuals.

Same here. Steam is the best online app for digitally buying games. OP is just venting (sic) over not really knowing what he is doing.

Steam pwns, just because you dont know how to install a game on steam doesnt mean it sucks!

I dont like steam at all,but i can see why others do.I buy a game,rip it to my HD and put it away in my cupboard until for some reason or other i need to rip it again.I hate discs.

I have never had any problem with Steam, so I will continue to give them business. Sorry for your problems though.

prices on steam are great and friends, chat support are ok. The only thing I hate about steam is..uhmm.. steam. Steam.exe is a sucky program built on internet explorer. It sometimes doesn't stop downloading, opening ridiculously slow and has some engine problems. As long as they provide good games on good prices, I'll stick with it.

Ive had lots of problems with steam but they all have been fixed. If your game won't launch try verifying the game cache by right clicking on the game, click on properties, and going to local files.

If that does not work uninstall steam completely and delete the steam folder. then reinstall steam and install the game.

The support is awful, took them about 5 days to answer my E Mail.V4LENT1NE

okay evereyone, I just downloaded crysis wars from another digital download with the latest patches and it works great and my frames even went up by 10. And I got the game on sale, So all my other games work great on steam. So I got the orange box from steam for $10, thats great, Crysis wars never really worked good from steam anyway(when it worked)I guess sometimes you get a lemon.
