dont tell me vista cant display pic thumbnails!

my vista is showing pictures as little thumbnail of ocean with a mountian, how can i get true picture thumbnails. thanks

I don't know if Visa is any different, but in XP at least, you'd open the folder that the images are in, click on View, then you should be able to pick how you want them displayed. One of them is tumbnails.

I don't know if Visa is any different, but in XP at least, you'd open the folder that the images are in, click on View, then you should be able to pick how you want them displayed. One of them is tumbnails.Sandro909

Artslp2001: What kind of image files are they and where are the physically located? Vista will display thumbnail images of pictures as well as video files that it's capable of reading. If the thumbnails are displaying the "generic" image, that's usually an indication that either it doesn't recognize the image type as a default that's supported by explorer or that it's still reading. If you are viewing files on aslowexternal device then it might take a few minutes to populate the thumbnails.

That's odd... here's how mine display:

Try clearing your existing thumbnails (even if you don't have any). Right click on your Vista hard drive, and go to properties. Choose disk cleanup. Once it loads up, uncheck everything except "thumbnails", and choose Okay.

Let me know if this works.

Control Panel (Classic view) > Folder Options > View tab, uncheck 1st item
(Always show icons, never thumbnails)
