Half Life 2 was the better game. I still play this pretty often. I've beaten it about 7 times and i will keep playing it until i physically don't have the ability to do it anymore.
Far Cry was horrible in every way, i give it -5555/10. And this is weird because Crysis is one of my most favorite games.
FEAR was great, i remember hyping that game when only 60 peope had it on its wishlist and when the graphics were better than anything that had ever been seen.
Doom 3 was my most hyped game out of all of those. I really loved the graphics and the settings and the darkness and the horror. I remember the huge war between Valve fanboys and id fanboys arguing over what game had the better graphics. I miss those days :)
Hard to say, really, all 4 of them are very different types of FPS. Liked them all (havn't played f.e.a.r though). If one thing can be said about those years was that developer's where really pushing the bar onwhat FPS can be. Now everything play's like CoD (wich copied battlefield).
Doom 3 really pushed in terms of atmosphere, even tough people didn't like because it was too traditional or claustrophobic it defenitly had a superb vibe of dread and aprehension. Half-Life 2 pushed physics as we all know. Far Cry tried something very different.
I still have to go for Half-Life 2, with Far Cry in 2nd place.
By the way, I like that 5th option, reminds me of my own Polls, I like to keep that option.
Its a good way to have people participate and see the results without having to choosein a Poll they are not qualified to answer.
Plenty of people use it as well.
Yeah, had a short discussion with a bud on Steam about the 2004-05 period of those games constituting a fantastic era for FPS. I did expect the vote to be a bit more balance however, lol...I still have to go for Half-Life 2, with Far Cry in 2nd place.

IMO the list miss The Chronicles Of Riddick: Scape From Butcher's Bay. Is the shooter with the BEST character and BEST story from the ones in the 2004-2005 period and the graphics at the time were almost on par with Doom 3 ones.
For the gameplay, I liked Far Cry>F.E.A.R.>Doom 3>>>Half-life 2. However, The Resurrection Of Evil gunplay was even better than the one in Doom 3. HL-2 is a weird case since the gunplay didn't feel as in the other shooters, in fact is more like a hybrid shooters oriented to mix direct action with puzzles, and the gravity gun overshadows the use of the other weapons.
F.E.A.R. is explosive, but is hard to play the game more than a couple of times since the locations are way too repetitive. Far Cry story was bland, but the replay value is the highest from these games, and the game is really hard in "realistic" mode. The visuals were amazing, too.

Judging from Polls I've had in the past, I was pretty sure HL2 was gonna run the competition to the ground.
Still, good Poll, though it looks like HL2 is still the fan favorite here at GS PC forum.
Good point :) I loved Escape form Butcher Bay. I probably would've voted for it had it been on the list...IMO the list miss The Chronicles Of Riddick: Scape From Butcher's Bay. hard to believe that 4 people voted for this category  "I Didn't Play Them All To Make a Legitimate Vote." malikmmm
Why is that? Not everyone is interested in all these games, though they are all FPS's (probably the reason there are only 4 votes)
Nice to have an out option for those who can't make a fair vote but want to see the results instantly.
Half-Life 2 was rather "meh", in my eyes.
Weak gunplay really killed it. It was still a good game nonetheless (with a fantastic sci-fi setting) but shooting gun in that game felt weak.
My vote goes to F.E.A.R.
Had the poll offer more inputs then I would of included Riddick, UT2004, Battlefield 2 and COD2.IMO the list miss The Chronicles Of Riddick: Scape From Butcher's Bay.
