Doom 4 screenshots

These were posted on some Asian site in January. They found them on someone's portofolio, apparently. Someone discovered them today and proceeded to troll /v/ claiming Doom 4 was canceled. Bethesda denied the game is cancelled.

Pro-tip: game isn't finished, pics aren't marketing shots. The location shots are from the game's former director.

Some of them are extremely atmospheric and remind me of Metro 2033.

Hover the cursor over them and you'll get the original filename which might hint a thing or two (like the NY location lol). All are screenshots, although some look like concept art.

Forget Doom 4, play Crysis 2 and turn off your monitor. Its the same thing. In case you guys dont remember they were joking about playing hl2 or farcry with your monitor off gives you the same result as playing doom 3.

Could be it, even so the environment feels too current for a DooM game. The images do resemble a bit RAGE, like they are on the same engine.

My hope is for it to be more classical in terms of level design. I want all the satanic imagery and maze like levels. Imo DooM 1 & 2 are still a bit scary.

RAGE had some parts as linear as CoD.

It's their vision for Doom 2, except that now they have the technology to materialise it.

Probably because the pc crowd has had to deal with numerous amounts of console ports/ consolised games this gen. Hopefully I don't need to make a list. Anyway until I ssee offical screenshots I wont be making anyassumptions.

It doesn't scream "Doom" to me, but I'll withhold judgement until more information is released. Looks like Hell has come to Earth, though.

Which means Rage was over-shipped, Bethesda styIe, which in turn means that game's poor sales hurt even more.

I went to a game shop in Paris in October and the walls were filled with Rage pre-order cases. Nobody cared about it. That's when I realised the game will be a bomba :/

Well if those are real(which I doubt) then they sure nailed the "hell on earth" part.

The first couple of shots reminds me of Half Life 2, then it started looking like Rage. Still looks interesting though.

I noticed a billboard showing a Hell Knight next to Mc Donald's. It shows that this is fake or an early build as it wouldn't make much sense in-game in my opinion.pilouuuu2004

Early build. Someone translated the Korean text on that site and it says the pics come from the project director. He left id a couple of months ago and works at Gearbox now.

The pictures have Rage assets and that specific look of id Tech 5 textures, there's no doubt about that.

I hope they can design the levels better than Doom 3. We need more than tight corridors.

WTF? This looks *nothing* like Doom 3. :( At all. Doom 2, to an extent, yes.

I have a hard time believing those are from a Doom game :? they look like crap for what the game is about. It's far too bright for a Doom game and what's with all the OTT stuff like the split ground, is that where the "evil" is supposed to be coming from? I am saddened by these screens

If it doesn't have corny stuff like rivers of blood, bone pillars, piles of skulls, lava fountains and people crucified, I'll be disappointed. By the way, Doom 3 did the split ground thing too.

I think the problem here is that these screens look like they should be part of some kind of RAGE DLC. Either way they look great to me, but those better be console screens because they still have the low-res textures.

We don't even know what the game will be about anyway.

I'm not saying there will be vehicles but I'm not leaving out the option (they were quite fun in Quake 4, mind).

very ragey and not quite what i expected. it seems a bit more illuminated then most of doom 3 which is a positive at least.

John Carmack already admitted that consoles are the "primary" platform they are developing Doom 4 for. It's pretty lame considering previously he had told PC gamers that Doom 4 would be "their" game with Rage being the console game. Oh well, it's just business... Bruin1986

Uh, no. He said PC at the last E3. Nothing else has been said since then. He's even including new features that are found with the Radeon 7xxx series (and likely the next Geforce 6xx series as well) into Doom 4/id tech 5.

They're moving Doom to be more than just a point and kill. This has potential if they don't f**k it up.

The backpack soldier has writing that would be in a Doom game all over it, but it also shows that whoever took those screens also still uses Windows XP. :lol: That solder also wears pajama pants. Obviously you'll play a Marine. Looks like it'll be remnants who call themselves Agents of Chaos (just a guess going by the backpack) and it definitely takes place in NYC (Why?...) Looks like the almighty shotgun will be the primary weapon (HELL YES!) since everyone seems to have one. Backpack guy will be a techie since he has a keyboard and possibly a laptop in his pack.

Also their hair looks incredibly bad.
