Hello all. This is my first post. I just got my new rig cause my old one was a piece of **** Company of Heroes and Dawn of War 2 look like two really good rts games. I wanted to buy one so i wanted to know some info. When DoW 2 comes out, will it have more people play online then CoH? And which one has better gameplay?

After playing DoW2 beta I am gonna have to go with CoH. I just feel as if CoH as so much more to do and lets me strategize with more options.

CoH by leaps and bounds.

I love sci-fi games, but DoW2 didn't appeal to me at all. It didn't have any base building. You can't build defensive structures or 'area of denial' weapons/structures. The AI also feels like a labotomized version of CoH's. They won't move to cover when they're underfire, you have to order them. You also control much fewer units. The maps are also much more 'open' and there aren't any choke points, partailly because DoW doesn't have equivilant units to deal with defensive structures (mortors, snipers, and atillery), well they do, but you have to build a squad then upgrade them (artillery requires you KILL people to use it, instead of the standard recharge time). It's much more of a hassle then CoH, which I don't get because it seems like they were trying to simplify the game by having fewer structures... Relic... it didn't work.

I already finished COH and Opposing Fronts. I also got the DoW2 beta and I'd have to go with COH. The online COH community will live on for years to come so join in on the fun.

You should get CoH since it's quite cheap now.

Even if Dawn of War II is the better game, you can get Company of Heroes and its expansion for $30 right now. Which is like, 60% the cost of Dawn of War II.

Where I'm from, for $19 (USD) you can get the Company of Heroes Gold edition (includes expansion). So, for good value for your money get it and then get DoW2 also! Relic FTW!

You could always get the THQ Collector pack if you like the look of most of the games on the list and have the money because it would be saving you money in the long-run. But yeah I'd say CoH for sure, get DoW when its cheaper and has an expansion (like Chaos we wish!!)

I find them both different enough and good enough to warrant buying them both.

Both, but if you can only buy one get DoWII, a much better game, no doubt about it.

I'd say it was personal preference. do you like sci-fi or historical games more? i've played both and i love both. download the demo's and try them out. right now I lean towards DoW2 because i'm more into the sci-fi thing, and the assault marines are bad ass.

They're a bit different, in my opinion you should get both, but if you will only choose one, get CoH.

while similar in game mechanics they are still quite difrent, not to mention the huge difrence in the single player. so buy both imo, but if you have to choose take coh imo, since it had 2 years worth of polishing, while dow2 is still fresh.

they're both pretty much the same thing, just DoW2 looks slightly better, has a much more focus on squad customization, and has smaller army sizes and no base building. Beyond that, the gameplay is virtually the same with different skins (they even copied and pasted the cover mechanic with the little dots showing where you're units will be placed). But that's not saying anything a against the game - both are fantastic, from a fantastic developer. Maybe u should decide for urself by playing the CoH demo, and the DoW2 beta, which is available via Steam.

I would guess that DoW2 would have a bigger community as it as brand new. As for which one to get, I don't think they are all that similar. Its like comparing CoH to World in Conflict; sure they're both strategy, but they are still quite different.

COH has a good single player campaign but the multiplayer has too many problems. DOW 2 multiplayer is fantastic and the campaign will have coop play. I'm sure you can get COH for next to nothing these days.

Personally I enjoyed vCoH. Now though I guess it depends if you want 3v3 or 1v1. Only really played 1v1 in CoH and it definetly plays better that DoWII, for one the resources in CoH are balanced in 1v1 while in DoWII the special ability income is too slow and some abilities would be a bit too powerful in a 1v1 game. Second of all the few good 1v1 CoH maps are much better than the 1v1 DoWII beta maps. The DoWII maps feel small and uninspiring and definitely not as fun as Angoville (CoH map), I would say they are more simple and boring than RA3 maps. 3v3 on the other hand feels like the mode where most of the developer focus went into for DoWII and its rather fun.

CoH easily, especially since another expansion pack (Tales of Valor) is set for release in a few months. The only major problem with CoH is the patching system, but if you get it through Steam you won't even have to deal with that.
