I think everyone knew they would make a third one.. I never played the previous games. I tried the demo's and they just weren't my thing. Hopefully the third will be a great game for the fans of the series.

I hope Dragon Age III will try and improve the series a bit, 3 things I think they should do:

Messy inventory is just confusing, less items and less equipment to streamline the experience further.

Stats tend to be unnecessary and vague in description. Intelligence? Charisma? Health, damage and defense is all the 3 stats that matters. It is quite frustrating to have too many options.

The exploring should be more streamlined, more linear so that they can build a better experience.

I really hope they do this one right, because after Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age II, and SWTOR, my faith in Bioware has gone down some. I wish they would go back to making great RPGs like KOTOR, instead their current games which feel more like hybrids of action or shooter games than real RPGs. Then again maybe I'm in the minority here.

I really have my doubts about this game. They would have to go back to DAO game play style for it to interest me. DA2 was such a let down. Hope they go back to letting you create your own character and having multiple class choices. It will need to get tons of massive glowing reviews for me to buy it after how bad Dragon Age 2 was.

My interest in BioWare is really at an all-time low. After ME3 and KotOR I'm not really 100% sure that they still got 'it'. Hopefully DA3 will impress everyone but ill hang onto a healthy skepticism for now.

This honestly sounds like D3's development.

As expected, after checking the comments at various sites, the responses to this announcement have largely ranged from sceptical to ambivalent. I'm kind of a bit of both. I feel a bit burned by my experiences with Dragon Age II - it wasn't a bad game, just disappointing. Yet my expectations for the Dragon Age games remain high, much higher than my expectations for the ME games, and I still hold hope that Bioware can make a proper DA game again. That being said, I also fully expect to be disappointed once again. So, I guess this is Bioware's last chance. Bioware is one of those game developers that hold a special meaning for me, because they made a game (Neverwinter Nights) that literally changed my life. Since then, they've only managed to recapture NWN's magic twice (KOTOR and DAO), so my disappointment in DA2 cut deep. This is therefore Bioware's last chance to prove there is still at least a part of them that is still the same company that made NWN.

wonder how EA will do the online. Hopefully they will hire another studio so Bioware can focus on the singleplayer, and make the multiplayer exactly like Neverwinter Nights was (module support, etc)

Bioware, imo, has a long and excellent history of combining risk-taking (i.e., deviations from previous games that could alienate players), while also learning from experiences and listening to the community to improve later installmnents.

I believe that Dragon Age III will be much, much better than Dragon Age II (a game that, despite the flaws, was enjoyable) and will be on par with Dragon Age I, while being a more playable and streamlined than both prior games.

I just hope they bring a more epic story back. DA2 was well written, it just seemed like it did not belong. It was like a side-story when compared to the first game lol.

going by recent records, I'll call the game a pile of diarrhea until they can prove me otherwise. Using frostbite sounds interesting though

From the looks of that article, they're taking fan complaints about the second game into account. Particuarly about the freedom of choice - or rather the illusion of choice.

The Witcher's days are numbered now...

The new Bioware wouldn't give module support because they wouldn't want a game to have that much staying power. They need ppl to line up for the next Dragon Turds or whatever crap they'll regurgitate next.

Meanwhile, we'll actually be getting some real RPGs in 2013/14 through kickstarter, not this emotionaly engaging nonsense and choices in cinematic dialog that lead to the same conclusion.

It's been in development for 2-3 years according to them. Proves that they went from DA:O to DA3, while just spitting out the quick and forgettable Dragon Age 2. So far things look promising for DA3.

I'm not at all hyped up or wanting to get it right now, but I am curious to see if Bioware can turn it around at some point.

Meh, after hearing how badly they screwed up DA2 I never looked at the game again. I loved the first one - it was amazing - but...EA loves to screw things up.
