So basically, my monitor is taking a while to get a signal.

If I turn my monitor and my computer on at the same time, the monitor will get the signal and show my motherboards splash screen...then somewhere around the time when windows is loading it cuts out. The light will flicker on and off for a seemingly random amount of time until it finally picks up the signal and shows the login screen. It's pretty much fine at this point, however if the computer goes into sleep/I turn the monitor off the process will repeat when it turns back on.

It's a Samsung 943bwx btw, and I have a 9800GT. I've only been using it since last christmas, and I don't leave it on for excessive amounts of time (ie. overnight...if I'm not using it, it's not on...), I'd really expect it to last a lot longer than this.

Yeah, finally got hit by winter I'd say (first snowfall and stuff). Been around -10 celcius or so the past few days...the house is kept warmer though :P.

Also, it could just be me going crazy, but it seems to be taking longer and longer each time....before it would always come on eventually. Now I've gotten to the point where I just give up and restart the computer sometimes.

Not running a Nvidia card are you..? ( Ah I see that you are..sorry ) Drivers my friend...drivers... The latest round of Nvidia drivers are not playing nice with certain models of monitors... I had blinking screen, ( going to black and back ..usually on start up) Monitor going dark on start up or no picture showing up even though the green light is on. Restarting PC fixed some of this... Rolled back to older drivers and it went away.. Depending on brand and price ( and usage ) a monitor should last years.... Mine comes with a 5 year...14 dead pixel or 1 white pixel guarantee....

Yeah, I thought about drivers at first. But I haven't updated my drivers since I installed Win7...and that was about a month and a half ago (whatever day it came out). Regardless, I will try this and see what happens.
