[QUOTE="z4twenny"]i won't buy the game. i've made that point, as to what rights i do or don't have it seems you feel like you have more authority than myself to determine what my rights are. funny enough, you obviously don'tMakariiirc none of the pirated versions ever strip the DRM, they just bypass it. it's still on your computer regardless if you install the game, pirated or legit. if you're really against the DRM as a whole being on your computer, then you have to simply not play the game.
trust me, they strip the drm out.
"Don't care" isn't the same thing as "wouldn't notice." EA is saying in their defense that 99.8% of people that used the form of DRM has not had a problem with it and wouldn't notice it, where as the mere .2% of people it caused issue with are the ones protesting.
... Stop making things up. It's pretty simple to understand if you read it.
imo I wouldnt mind DRM if it refreshes over time (say 6 months period ?), like say after 3 years I felt like playing spore again ... but wait I already installed it 5 times, then whats the purpose of buying a game if I can't use it over time!?
I end up installing old games more often than buying new ones.
As long as the game works after I legitmately paid money for the copy, I dont really care about DRM.Jd1680a
99.8% of gamers know better than to trust a sliver of what EA has to say about anything...
DRM is a waste of gamers time and EA's time.

I think thats the way MS windows activation servers work... After six months, thier servers clear. Even though I wonder about alteriour motives (second hand sales mainly), I won't be surprised to see this patched out soon, especially if the calls/complaints mount once retail is no longer a factor.

MS's activation runs off of similar triggers as SecuROM, but MS's activation only goes off if you change more than (iirc) 2 things in one reboot. My memory might be wrong, but MS pays attention to motherboard + CPU + RAM + video card + DVD drive, and if you change 3 of those at once you have to reactivate. You can change 2 at a time, reboot, change 2 more, reboot, and it should be fine. SecuROM watches motherboard + hard drive + dvd drive, and changing one of them flags it as a new comp? I think... I barely remember all that stuff.

I meant if your activations reached its limit... It will reset after 6 months of non-use. I know it does, because I quit using an OEM copy for a while, and next time I installed it it worked, amd has worked ever since.
99.8% of EA's CEO's comments are true and factually based...
wait...

genious.
I guess .20 % of us really DO care abut DRM. Yay im a minority.
