EA paid someone to troll

A friend of mine just posted this on facebook and it was an interesting read. I'm not surprised by it at all.

We're talking about EA ... those idiots can pretty much pull off everything they want, it's not like someone can stop them anyways.

Btw, that's one hell of a job the guy had. There's nothing new in this though, it's common knowledge companies sent people to forums to market their games. For example, in the Tera threads in /v/ and /vg/ there were Frogster people giving out full acces codes for the whole european closed betas. If they can do that, what's stopping them to hop to another thread and derail and troll.

Somehow, I'm not surprised.

that sounds a lot like some people around here. its sad for the people that lost their jobs but ea deserves this if its true, that company is a cancer to gaming community and their bs business practices had to get back to them eventually

If it was some random guy on 4 chan praising how awesome his job was at EA and how nice they were all the PC hipsters would be screaming that it is fake, but when some random guy says negative things all the PC hipsters just automatically believe it because it's what they want to hear.

The PC community is embarrassing sometimes.

I'm not surprised at all. I honestly think EA is killing videogames with a ferocity that makes me think they actually hate us.

That said, I read a whole lot of stuff on 4 chan. I'm the one who's writing a bunch of it, and I imagine there are other trolls who are way better at it than I am.

I remember there was a guy who said he was a designer for Rockstar, and he fed us alllll sorts of information on GTAV. Pretty much everybody immediately believed him just because he sounded "legit," but more importantly because they wanted to. When an anonymous stranger does a good job of feeding you information that you secretly want to hear, then it becomes very difficult indeed to tell whether or not they're lying. And for such a source to actually be used in videogame journalism is absurd and part of the reason why the rest of the journalistic world doesn't take game writers seriously.

EA is such a crappy company, I will attempt to avoid every game they publish at all costs. This company absolutely deserves to be delisted and should suffer an agonizing death...I'd be more than happy with that. Hell, the gaming industry should have such a huge corporation get slaughtered, keep them honest.jer_1

Also every major company has viral online marketers. IIRC Nvidia was one of the first to do it on a large scale in 2005.

Suppose it's cheaper than actually fixing the problems with their games. Wonder how much they pay, I can be a forum jerk if the price is right. (kidding :P)

I am ashamed to admit that I bought the Sims 3 - in the forums I posted about how EA is selling crap and not fixing it just making more expansions. My forum posting was banned and they blocked me from being able to play Sims (along with the reat of the games by EA) for over a week (requires online validation to play each time you boot it). This was before Origin took over the launcher.

There was no warning or explanation on the ban - BTW I was not the only one this happened to and still happens - if you post negatively on their forums it will be locked and banned without any warning.

I will not after this experience rent (you don't own their games) any games from EA/Origin for the very reason that all games are attched to the launcher and if banned you will not be able to play any of them.

The Sims is a franchise that was a quality product at one time till EA bought the rights and Sims 3 sucs with all the expansions. If you read the forums most of the people who complained or ask for solutions to problems the posts are buried in glowing or positive crap posts.

When any new expansion/stuff pack released they do the same positive spin in the forums to fight against any bad or negative posts about the release and there are plenty.

This is just one franchise of the many that EA/Origin will grind money from till they cannot get anymore from it they choke the crap out of any good material thay get their hands on.

I know steam (and others) has the same kind of launcher but have never banned people from playing all of their games like Origin can and will for any slight breach of their EULA in forums.

Be warned I do speak the truth.

If you don't want to be a hypocrite then you should know that EA made The Sims, they didn't buy any rights, absolutely any Sims game was funded and entirely owned by EA and the series was always developed this way, the only thing you can say without being a hypocrite is that it lost its charm.

That post wasn't pointed at you, i mean this in general. The company is successfull because theres too many people that keep buying their games. I don't like Mass Effect so i can hardly comment on that, but Bioware and Microsoft were the ones making the first titel on the xbox. Fifa is the same over and over again, very little improvements. The sims with its 1 million expansion? not even gonna comment on that. I never liked sim city so i can't comment on that. Battlefield... well the first ones that came out long time ago were actually good and at that time ea wasn't so bad, but now... just an example from my perspective. I bought BF 3 since the game itself actually looked good, i played through the singleplayer and it wasn't bad but nothing of the best either, but whatever, the really bad part is, i can still not play the multiplayer until this day. I've talked to about 6 different EA "Support" people in the live chat and what not and they couldn't help me with the problem (i have like 200 games installed on my pc and they all work fine except for BF3...) they keep trying to shake me off by telling me to restart the computer and there was no way to get back with them in the chat. But what gave it the most to me was when one of the Employes told me that "Well some people can play the game and some can't". So it's not just some guy, i've been dealing with these greedy and unfriendly idiots almost since the very beginning when i started playing pc games in my young age. Ofcourse if EA would be gone there would be a different company, but in the end, its we customers who can controll them and not the other way around, but that happens if we keep letting them use us as puppets and even support them by it.

Yes i've played most FIFA games since 1996 on both pc and consoles. Important titles? Not to me. Crysis 2 wasn't bad, but thats just one title that comes to my mind in some time now. So money is a pathetic problem? We live off it and when we wanna get away of all the hard work and be able to relax, we d'like to do so by not getting screwed over for what we pay for. I also have care for other stuff in the world, but this is not the place to discuss that.
