I installed this game after all the recommendations for a new RTS. I did the tutorial and then did started campaign. I got slaughtered about 5x before I quit and haven't played since. I kept trying to attack some Ukraine territory. I had a decent army and I positioned my men in a C shape around the other guy. He still slaughtered me. Then after the battle it kept cycling through all these other territories for about 5 minutes until it came back to me? No idea what was going on. Any tips on general battle and how to have fun with this game would be nice.

Try getting the other side to attack you either on the campain map or in battle. That way they just walk into your shots. Otherwise try having 3 good cannons in you stack and using less quality troops over more poor quality troops

You need to start out on the campaign or at least the tutorial. You lost because you jumped into the most difficult game of the series without knowing how to play. How could you win like that?

Don't play above normal difficulty as the AI gets unfair bonuses to make up for their stupidity. Play as Great Britain to start with as they are the easiest and thanks to the latest patches the most overpowered faction in the game. Don't go to war straight away, build up, recruit and send trade ships to the Ivory and Spice trade zones and make as much money as you can because unit upkeep is quite high. Take off Follow AI in the Campaign settings.

[QUOTE="sexygirl6t9"] Then after the battle it kept cycling through all these other territories for about 5 minutes until it came back to me?

I assume you ended the turn and that was the all the computer countries making their moves. The ones you could see anyway. You can turn off it showing the computer movements. Drawback being you won't know what they're up to.

The TC did do the tutorial first and then the campaign...apparently it wasn't enough. I recommend doing the tutorial again and make sure you are playing on easy..the total war series isn't a series you just jump right into
