the game isnt that good.. ill just pick up bf2142 :| darkfox101
I'm not insulting you or down talking, but you should give the demo more than 1 hour. Judging by your X-Fire game list this is the first campaign/objective based game you've played.
Sadly like the review of PCzone UK mentioned, the game is very hardcore so if you want to enjoy playing the game some people just need to give it more time. If you still don't enjoy it, than it's just not your cup of tea.
Are the requirements same as Quake 4? Alnar
close. What system do you have? I may be able to help you.
I play it on max settings at 1280x1024 with 4xAA 16xAF with just a Geforce 7900GS and it runs really smooth, i dont understand why people with 8800 video cards cant run it fine?....maybe they expecto so much from their cards that they force 16xAA 16xAF at higher resolutions hehe, just a thought.
most of the people here complaining about lag forget to mention the fact they are connecting to servers hosted in Europe or anywhere far from their country, or they just have bad net, cause I'm not getting any lag.
The gameplay is awesome especially clan-wise.
The Demo was interesting so to speak.
After about three 30 minutes game play I found it alright. There indeed is a learning process as this is a team based game. You won't accomplish anything alone. Each class can perform various objectives which will advance your progress.
I enjoyed the unlock-able ranks that reward you differently. As I have gotten silencer for my pistol sneaking to a Borg territory while taking down quietly few unexpected players before they found out where I was.
So far, Medic and Sniper class were my favorite. Engineer can be plenty of fun as well.
Drivable vehicles are ok, nothing groundbreaking but remains fun, it gets you where you need to go. As for graphics and performance, I had no issues whatsoever with my setup. Since I'm playing on higher resolution already nothing more 2xAA 4xAF is needed. At that point no jaggies are visible at all.
Only one map was given, so I can't judge all of the game yet.
It took some time to get use to game learning curve, which objective are needed to progress and which classes are capable or certain tasks.
I can say one thing for sure, after i got a hang of what was going on and how objectives work, it became more fun then just running around with my sniper and aimlessly shooting for kills only. The game definitely incorporates teamwork above all else.
Not a bad impression for a demo, I find it decent for what was given to play with.
Will it be worth my money? I'll have to see how Gamespot's opinion is on the full game scale when it's reviewed. If it's equally or better as what was given in Demo, it could be good fun.
If you are repairing a vehicle someone is piloting people, repair from the side. Don't go behind them. Not only do you put yourself at risk but you put the person in that vehicle in risk. And don't punish the guy for your incompetence. While I got used to the vehicle controls I still don't like how loose the vehicles feel. However I am enjoying the game. It's hard to find a group of players that will work together. It will end up like battlefield 2. They want you to work together but in the end the players will decide how to play.
well the truth is that it's just not for everyone. You are safer with games like CS or BF2 than Quake Wars.
The thing is that you have to rely on your team to enjoy the game and it gets very frustrating when your team just doesn't know what they have to do. Same can be said for the opposing forces. Without a decent challenge it's just not fun, I think that counts for most games. Only in Quake Wars there isn't even a k/d ratio to keep you satisfied....
Hehe..i think the K/D ratio is the only thing that pumps most people to keep playing something online. Gives a feel of accumilating something, the 'getting'. Otherwise it might as well feel like a waste of time. Of course, many play just to enjoy the game.
P.S thanks for your replies people, helpful:) Will look into it, probably.
Without a doubt my favorite game of 2007...I don't need to play Crysis to know I like ETQW more. I went into withdrawls after the beta ended...thank you gaming gods for providing a demo.
If you hate BF2 I recommend checking out ETQW. It's the exact opposite of Battlefield 2...balanced and infantry-intensive. BF2 is just horribly unbalanced and infantry is totally useless...plus objectives don't matter at all since everyone is so busy trying to pad their stats by spawn raping for the whole map. I thought I was buying a FPS when I got BF2 but it turned out to be a multiplayer driving game where you spawn and die over and over...wtf?
ETQW learned from all the mistakes BF2 made and corrected them. It's the greatest multiplayer experience I've ever come across.
And does anyone else find the sound to be the worst thay have ever heard in a game?
I like the objectives, I like the variety of classes. I dont like the sound, and the graphics are just ho-hum.

I honestly have to agree 100%. I have a pretty nice sound card with a 600-watt 5.1 sound setup and this game just doesn't blow me away with the audio. It seems to bleed together and simple things like making the game sound lower during voice-overs isn't done. So you'll miss a lot of stuff during a lot of action. Loud noises aren't always the best option for EVERY sound. They really have to take this one back to the drawing board in that respect.
As for the rest of the game, I'm generally unimpressed. It is outright confusing at first, but even once you figure it out, it's not all the engrossing of an experience. It's simple and pretty boring and to top it all off, ITS A QUAKE GAME WITHOUT GIBS!!!!!! Any real Quake fan would discount this game solely for that reason alone. Don't get me wrong, they're really trying here, it's a decent game, just not what I was expecting from a successor to one ofthe most violent series of video games. In that reguard, it doesn't even begin to live up to anything.
Also ... on a side note ... another thing that bothers me is the way the explosions are done. They look 2d and kiddy. Like if you have a T rating you need to have crappy explosions AND no blood. ... sigh .... I guess iD has finally gone soft on us. End of an era folks ... end of an era.

Well they obviously did something right because there's still 1000s of people playing that game right now. BF2 is a very veryteam intensive game,if you run and gun with no squadyou'll get smoked easy. But join a good squad that actually performs, and it becomes a whole different game in itself. And if vehicles bother you, INFANTRY ONLY servers solve that really quickly. They're all I play now simply because I was sick and tired of constantly getting run over by some noob in a buggy.
Just ... don't discredit BF2 because this game does something "different". BF2 is a great game and earned it's 9.0 average score. ET:QW will draw a niche crowd, but I don't see this game scoring better than BF2.

I should give it a try then. I never even played the demo because I was so pissed I spent $50 on BF2 I decided not to buy another BF game.
It's so weird because I loved BF1942 so much...BF2 just disappointed me to the extreme.

It's very similar to BF2 in basic gameplay.. they made the vehicles slightly weaker, in that a single shot in the right place can take some vehicles out, and it's harder for them to pick out and spot infantry in the first place. I usually play as an engineer on titan maps, and if a vehicle doesn't see me first, they are pretty much screwed. And aircraft are nerfed to high holy hell, they're nowhere near the BF2 helos and jets. It is still something like 90% in BF2's direction compared to QW, though... QW is a very different experience on a very basic level. I'm still playing around with the demo to make sure I learn things properly, but it's shaping up to be its own unique take on the multiplayer FPS genre. I'm probably going to get and play this, assuming I can learn things right. :DPlease Log In to post.
