I've played WoW, and I'm used to having a continual world to explore. Basically, large areas to explore, that you can go back to anytime you want, even if you don't get experience for killing the things.
I'm looking to start up with Everquest 2, and I'd like to know how open the areas are. I know there are load screens and what not, and I've played the game up to some cave area (having just beat some forest area). I got off of the starting island. And from what I could tell, the game felt like you were beating levels rather than playing in a fantasy world. Someone in the game told me it opens up after the cave area.
Question being: Does everquest 2 ever open up to the point where you feel you are playing in another world - or does it always feel like you are beating levels and moving on to the next, never to see the places you've been again.

Pretty much all MMORPGs are as open, if not moreso, than WoW.. EQ2 is getting a bit old, though.. I suggest trying LoTRO.
But yes, all of those games are like that.. I guess City of Heroes isn't quite as much, but it still is like that.. And flying or jumping onto buildings never gets old! EQ2 is plenty big.. You can leave your main city and walk around in any direction for a decent amount of time.. In just that one zone is a massive area, big enough that there's a pretty decent sized range of different enemy levels.. Right outside the door is some spiders and gnolls that are pretty low level, if I remember correctly.. Head down one way and you can see a little beach and some crabs and such.. Head into the forest and there's some animals and stuff.. Head to the other beach and there's a loooooong bridge defended by undead that you can walk into this smallish island.. It's all in the same massive zone, but on the little island, for example, you can go in the door and go into another zone and kill undead and stuff.. Trust me, it's really huge, nothing to worry about.. I've never played WoW or LoTRO, but I'm sure they're the same thing.
As for the number of places to go.. The higher your level, the more different places you can go to hunt that are suitable to your level. What level are you, anyhow? At my character's level before I quit, I wasn't that high, but I could go kill the tougher gnolls, griffons in this one map.. Underwater type creatures.. Undead.. Even an area I remember killing undead stuff in this valley, and some giants... Some golems.. Just a bunch of stuff, and all that was only near one city.. I'd have to move to the areas near another city to find other stuff to attack, since I'm not high enough to go to those far out places that are further from civilization with really really high level stuff...
But what I remember of that game, there's tons of different places to go.. I was at the high teens levels.
