Yeah, that seems to be the case. I had it turned off for 20 minutes, and everything is accessible again. So lesson is, turn off your external harddrive when you don't need it?Mikka_kippa
a lacie drive shouldn't overheat, I've got/had a few of the greyish silver ones. never overheated - infact they should power down when not in use and increase fan speed if heat increases.
I've had a couple die on me though so lacie isn't any better than any other drive for reliability.
Keep a careful eye on it. I had a mediagate that displayed kinda similar symptoms. it gradually got worse - turned out it was the case screwing up and after sticking a couple of different drives in it with similar results- concluded it was the mediagate case and bought a new case - no probs since
