I have wireless internet that me and my neighbour r paying for. He shares his connection with my computer but the problem is that the connection connects but then disconnects in another 5 secs and so on....... very irritating. Do you have any ideas of how i can stabalize my connection so that it doesn't disconnect so i can play my games without restarting them? btw he has the router i have the usb thingy.

I'm not sure... Have you called your ISP?

It will be your wireless. If you are getting anything less than "very good" signal, it will be going slowly.

Just sounds like the limitations of wireless. If wireless were a perfect technology then we would never need to wire any connections. Wireless is very open to interference from lots of things. Even metal in your walls can cause the signal to break. Someone using electronic devices around you could also cause a problem. There are endless possiblities. I think sharing in the same room is one thing..but to rely on a "shared" signal from a neighbor just isn't very good when you need to be connected for gaming.

That set up would work if you wanted to surf the net...but playing games is much much much more demanding. Get a wired connection of your own and be happy you can rely on it. It's not cheap..but you get what you pay for....sorry to say!

Well, the neighbour that i am sharing the connection with is moving out soon, so my dad plans to share with the other neighbour, which is closer to my room. Im not sure if this will make much of a difference for the connection but he said that if its not good enough, we might get high speed......im hoping.
