Yeah I know it's not Win7 compatible, yes it was started in 2004 so it's really XP compatible only, but come on!!! I can't play more than 10 mins without it locking up and I sooooo want to play it again since it looks so much better on my new rig than it was playing it on a Pentium D with a 6800GT.

Is there a work around I'm missing, or will FO:NV be my only hope? Help me Obi... sorry!

It differs between all systems. At any rate, if Fallout 3 doesn't work on your system (assuming it's patched), then Fallout: New Vegas theoretically shouldn't either.

Works great for me on windows 7 It's also not xp compatible only, my box clearly says vista under system requirements which is virtually the same thing. Windows 7 is not your issue, it must be something else

Fallout 3 is 100% win 7, x86 and x64 compatiable, however, oftentime quad core cpus would cause some problems.

PC game isn't going to be absolutely bug free since we get a very wide range of system configurations...want to play games on PC, learn to figure out how to "make" games run well rather than blaming on the game.

Played at least twice completely through no crashes on Win 7 x64 Ultimate. The only time I ever had crashes were when trying to use an unofficial mod.

Well, I guess I could try and find some doohicky to limit the cores used, but doing that would be just plain silly...!

It's TC's PC issue. I run Fallout 3 on Win 7 and no major problems whatsoever, just some occasional crashes :?

Mine was perfect on Win 7 as well. Sounds like a problem with the TC computer.

Sorry bro, but that's you.

Doesn't matter when a game was made and besides, Win7 has compatability mode.

I reinstalled Red Alert 2 last night, didn't run at first, set it to XP SP3 comp mode and now it runs fine.

I don't know what you've been smoking - Fallout 3 and Windows 7 are 100% compatible.

Your problem is almost certainly related to something else. Don't just assume it's Windows' fault.

you might try right clicking on the exe and run as admin or use the compatablity wizard and use the xp settings.

I don`t have crashes but when I`m exploring I always get annoying stutters! I have 4 GB RAM, Core 2 Duo @4.01 GHz and ATI 4870 512 MB. Annoying really...

I have only had the game crash once, and I believe that was my own fault due to the console cheat I was using...

Though the little launcher crashes a lot... Like on Steam, I click Launch Fallout 3, and a lot of the time that little launcher that pops up will crash... Clicking it again fixes it everytime, but I don't know why it does that...

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit here.

One of the first posters actually hit the nail on the head. It's the multi-core bug raising it's ugly head. I may have been a little rash with blaming Windows 7, but it was borne out of frustration. I found a fix which involves changing a. ini file and adding a line. Now it works great!

Damn you Win7 for fooling me! My bad!

Putting Windows 7 as a system requirement doesn't necessarily mean they worked on making the game more compatible with it.

Is adding these two lines to the Fallout.ini file the fix you are talking about?

I've been having some issues too. I suspected my quad core chip was at fault but was not sure.
