Backup all your saved games and try reinstalling the game.

Go to the start menu and click on computer. Double click on your hard drive go to program files find your game click on it and backup the game saves folder or something like that.

yep same here, wicked game though but it was coded amiturishly, zeta is totally broken, and the game itself crashes often, win7/geforce260/etc.. so u aitn the only one, the game is pretty broken.. but worth battling thru all the crashes and super mutants.

Wierd, Ive never had one crash on Fallout3.
What windows are you using?
Maybe you have a conflict of some drivers or a program interfering.

Im not a huge fan of fallout3, but i definatly didnt have a bunch of crashing.

It crashes often, on my setup too. What seemed to decrease the crashes for me was to overclocking my video card.... it's a 8600GT. Used to go no more than 10-30 minutes before it crashed, but after increasing the mhz on that card, can go a good 2 hours, before one. My crashes would just close the game and throw me straight to desktop....

I've never had a problem with Mothership Zeta, any of the other expansions and Fallout 3 herself.

well your one of the lucky few, crashes for most people right after you come from space walk and you gotta let the others thru the teleport, they usually go thru the teleport then go right back out back thru the teleport for some reason .. when their supposed to go open the door and stuff.

Whilst it is true that fallout 3 is pretty abysmal in terms of stability it was discovered some of the crashes were caused by "outside" programs. One of the main culprits of fallout 3 crashes is a program called "ffdshow" if you have this program on your PC (usually part of a codec pack) then either uninstall it, disable it or add fallout 3 to the exceptions list in ffdshow. It won't cure everyones problems but it might help one or two people.

The game isn't broken. It works great for most people. I have all of the DLC installed as well as about 150 mods, with no problems. No problems at all. The problem is not with the game. The problem is probably with some drivers on your pc hardware.

I couldn't get FO3 to run a year ago, using the same pc I'm using now. I just updated all of my drivers and walaah!...never another problem.

I recommend being giving more specific information as to the errors you are receiving. Run dxdiag.exe and send the results to the official forums at Bethesda. You'll probably receive better help there.

Sorry you're having problems. It can be really frustrating when you can't get a game to run properly. Seriously though, the problem is on your end. You need to find out what hardware and video driver conflicts you have.

Given that you don't have internet due to your living in a rural area, you probably haven't got the latest patches through Games for Windows Live. Unfortunately, the patches are regional and if you try to patch manually with the wrong patch...well, you get the idea.

and you would be wrong, when fallout 3 is the only game that crashes for me and others its the games fault.

If you get stuttering after playing for ~1 hour followed by a crash to desktop, lowering texture detail or other settings like anti-aliasing might help. It's almost like memory leak or something. Naturally it also looks like crap then.

Also read that deleting excess save games might remedy that but never tried it. Never had any other issues but I recall some problems caused by a certain audio codec as well as possible virtual drives, and in general you prolly want to have as few programs running on the background as possible.

Do you have any mods installed? If you do, try turning them off. FO3 used to crash on me after 3 hours or so of gameplay...It happens, just save often..

Hi, new to forum - old to gaming - 25 years in total. Have same problem with lockup after 30 to 40 min. Solved by disconnecting net connection & stopping antivirus (KAV). Now runs for hours.

Fallout 3 was very buggy, very rare that I have a problem with a game on my system and I had my fair share of random freezes with fallout.
