FO3 and NV combined are not even a quarter the game FO2 was.

MrYaotubo
Too bad this thread isn't about FO2. I'm sure you just wanted to show how legit of a PC gamer you are by saying it though.

Regardless of your interpretation of his post what he said wasn´t really innacurate.

It's an opinion, there is no accurate or inaccurate.

Fallout 3 had a better atmosphere for sure.

But NV had better game mechanics.

+ I must say it seems almost compulsary to play the DLCs in NV because without them the game is not only hard but also quite bland.

But after giving NV a good chance though, its actually a pretty good game. It just takes time and effort though because there is a hell of a lot of micromanagement to take care of - particularly on the harder levels of difficulty.

And another thing, NV is better in the way the game difficulty increases as you progress and the final battles especially are sufficiently hard enough to warrant alot of levelling up and equipment collection. Whereas in F3 the lack of difficulty increment was a letdown.

Fallout: New Vegas for me.

It started out well for me, and got slightly boring at the middle but I end up feeling the game is great.

I also like the DLCs I've played so far - Dead Money and Honest Hearts. Dead Money especially, I for one enjoyed the story, narrative, characters and gameplay in it. I heard people saying it is hard due to lack of ammo? Try using the the bear trap fist weapon you picked up, this dlc is the only time where I used unarmed combat and I have no trouble with those ghosts enemies. And the collar radio interference thing, I had fun trying to turn those radios off manually or hacking terminals. At times I felt Dead Money plays like Metal Gear Solid and a survival horror game mixed together which was refreshing.

Honest Hearts is alright, but rather dull compared to the tense atmosphere in Dead Money. Will be playing Old World Blues soon and heard good things about it.

I LOVED both games and New Vegas was a nice improvement over 3. I sure hope they have plans for Fallout 4.

Yeah I thought Honest Hearts was pretty mediocre compared to Dead Money.

After playing New Vegas on and off for a few weeks I much prefer this game to Fallout 3.

- The story is much better.

- The villians are better.

- Weapon vareity.

- Gun modifications.

- Better side quests.

- Lots of options with quests.

- Rex.

The only thing I see better about Fallout 3 is the actual wasteland. It's much darker and more fun to explore. The atmosphere was very good.

Before I started New Vegas I was warned it was one of the buggiest games, riddled with quest breaking bugs.

Haven't encountered a single one yet and I am nearly done.

Fallout 3 will always have a place on my hard drive. New Vegas has been uninstalled on four separate occasions out of boredom.

But I am going to reinstall it and play it again. OUT OF BOREDOM.

F3 had better DLCs and settings. NV has better story. Overall, NV is better, but let's not forget that without F3 we wouldn't have NV.

a single unmarked quest of FNV could put into shame a whole F3...

Neither game can really challenge the quality of original Fallouts (both of them, Fallout 2 being better), but to me, FNV is a worthy successor to the series.

Fallout 3 GOTY is the best thing Bethesda has done next to Morrowind.

New Vegas feels cheap in comparison. The atmosphere and exploration, don't even come close to Fallout 3.

You want a great Obsidian game? - - - - Neverwinter Nights 2 - One of the best RPGs out there.

New Vegas by far. I found it a lot more immersive, and loved the addition of a hardcore mode. I also like the desert setting and the fact that humanity had a little more of a foothold in the world but had to overcome social/ political issues instead of mutants and junkies (which is still fun).

Slightly off topic - I've got a spare copy of new vegas to trade (it's a steam key but you can check my rep on my profile or on steamtrades) if anyone is interested - IT IS NOT ULTIMATE EDITION.

Gonna go for new vegas as well. F3 was a nice revival of the series, New Vegas nailed it with the new engine and a half-return to the previously established style of F1 / F2.

Fallout 3's story and characters were terrible. And they used the same crappy engine for both games, btw.

Yea, there were some tweeks that made NV better, but NV was good DESPITE the gameplay, which F3 wasn't.

Fallout 1 >Fallout 2 > NV >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Fallout 3

God I hope Bethesda does not make Fallout4, leave it to the people who know how to do Fallout :)

Or atleast let Obsidian do the quests, dialogue, characters and story :P

Fallout 3 felt like a cohesive game. Fallout New Vegas felt like a mod for Fallout 3. So F3 > FNV.

But, in terms of gameplay mechanics, FNV > F3.

FNV, but that is on the very strong notion of forgiving the bugs.

jakes456

as I said I have not encountered a single bug.

Maybe when it came out it was buggy. I bought it 2 months ago.

LOL...do you know how many time it has been patched since release?
Ofc you didn't encounter any bugs NOW...

I played Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas for 1,000 hours between 2008 and 2012 and If I may just share with you a recent memory and an early memory of what are my favorite gaming experiences ever.

Recent Memory/Experience: I don't want to spoil one of the endings so let me just say after recently finishing Fallout New Vegas, standing out on a lone stretch of highway after taking control of the Mojave felt amazing. It was a fitting ending to 1,000 hours playing as Jason Wild, gunslingin' highwayman of the wastes!

Early Memory Experience: Fallout3 was one of my first gaming experiences. That year, I didn't have a car. I met a beautiful woman almost half my age who didn't have a car either and we were on a bus together as I was seeing her back to her place. And there I was, next to this beautiful girl on the bus that any man would want to be with and I distinctly remember thinking about the stat-boosting drugs in Fallout3 and how best to use them the whoooooole time. If you are getting to know someone and can't stop thinking about a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland, you might be a gamer.

My hopes for Fallout 4? Vehicles please! Was the highwayman car driveable in the first couple of Fallouts? If so, may be a new generation engine will allow for vehicles in Fallout 4. ALSO....

I hope to see the scrounging and scavenging ramped up to "scrouvenging" levels! (I made a new word!)

Fallout 3 honestly for some reason was one of the best games I had ever played. I had an amazingly enjoyable experience. Probably because it was one of the first games of its kind that I had played, but just the atmosphere, story, and exploration aspect was great. I fell in love with the game, think I beat it like 3 or 4 times along with all of the DLC which imo was a dissapointment, but the main story was awesome. Makes me want to go play through it again.
