Hi guys,

If like me you picked up far cry 2 and were, lets just say, a little dissapointed with the main content of the game, in particular the main storyline and missions. But theres one thing I've taken from this game, and you have to admit, the game world is amazing. It's a beautiful place with some innovative features (the weapon degredation, the fire propogation etc.). I see MASSIVE modding potential for this game once the community gets off its feet.

I've been thinking in particular it would be a perfect game engine to use for a zombie survival mod, think about it. The spread out outposts. The crappy weapons that can jam and explode in your hands. The game structure is pretty much intact, the missions could be modified so you had to find supplies, or fuel, or suvivors or whatever. And the A.I. could be modified so humans are friendly and helpful to you. The use of fire would be perfect, low on ammo? just set a horde on fire. Not to mention that it's in Africa, a la resi 5. So to all pessimists who feel hard done by buying this game, just wait until the modding community get their heads together... and produce something better than the original game!

You know a zombie mod in Far cry 2 is not a bad idea. Although to be honest most zombie mods are only good if they are multiplayer and this games MP is hopeless. But yeah it does have potential. Sitting around a camp fire at your safe house while its raining only to have a whorde of zombies come at you (but you can't kill them because it's racist).

It could be an amazing single player mod with the right coding behind it. Probably never gonna happen! Ive just been waiting so long for a free roaming zombie survival game... possibly rpg.

That would be sweet actually, and put a LOT of zombies on screen, specially because it's a huge area. Don't forget the animals like zebras could be other sort of monsters, haha. It would be great though, They'd have to make a lot of changes to the enemy a.i., and how the zombies would move around in thw world since it's so huge. The small cities should be the places where its most crowded with them.

Thinking about it, it would be really creepy at night in game time.

Why would you want a mod with Left for Dead just around the corner?

A more singleplayer focused Zombie survival set in an open world would no doubt be amazing.

Have people managed to open the data files yet, Once they can get something to read these suckers and extract the contents it's basically free-for-all modding (no need for a SDK really) Stalker is an example really.

I am tired of people saying the MP sucks. It doesn't. It's pretty good, it's not the next great thing in multiplayer gaming but its still fun. Ubisoft can make improvements like fixing the problems it has and adding new modes in updates.

Aye, the game itself as a complete package really isnt groundbreaking. But it DOES have some absolutely amazing ground breaking features, and it looks pretty fantastic too. I'm waiting for the custom campaigns that should be coming out once this gets onto moddb.com or somewhere like that...

I agree, the game isn't revolutionary, but it's still a ton of fun. Some of the individual features in it are just mind-blowing.

Just picture it: You're sent out to retrieve a van full of supplies as a contract. It's night time... the dynamic weather system kicks in and it starts pouring rain. You can't see a damn thing 6 feet in front of your open topped jeep. You check your map and bail out on foot to try and grab the truck in the middle of an outpost that's been overrun. Then they come... first 2 or 3... then a dozen... then 20... struggling with rusty, jamming weapons trying to shoot them in the face... brilliant!

ALL games the last 1-2 years, ohh and about ai and crappy weapons i think its fine for a zombie mod, eg if you try a zombie mod in quake 3 engine or crysis or the star wars engine or ut 3 engine the zombies will move fast snd strafe unlikely in far cry 2 and cod 4 the animations are mor reallisitc what i think is that even gears of war and cod4 have editors if you look in the internet, but not many people mod, thats bad nowadays, in any case i think that we can make the firefights the combat the ai and can be improved just like people improve them in stalker and crysis, i did some changes too. YOU DONT LIKE A GAME CHANGE IT, CUSTUMIZE THE INI FILES! i love modding!

Because for all the beauty and size of the world, they made it a single objective at a time game, padded with map criss-crossing, duplicate missions and tedious respawings.

Basically what you wind up with is an adaption of War And Peace as directed by the crew of Dukes Of Hazzard.

just cause great pottentials worst missions ever, so am still ok for an 8.5, take a look at stalker, story? where? time to complete? 15 hours MAX , for 5 years? the worldmap? small and linear as hell , seriosuly to the next level ,to the next level, crap where is chernobyl size? or atleast half, missions? the same duplication as far cry 2 so still better than stalker, real map and "open ended experience" not crap!

Ok I love Far Cry 2, but STALKER is also one of my favorite games. It is anything but small and linear, and if you do all the quests in the game it can take well over 40 hours to finish. The map is very large as well so I'm not sure where you get "small and linear" from. I could finish Far Cry 2 in 15 hours as well if I just did all the main missions without any side quests or exploring. Thats fine if you love Far Cry 2, but don't go spewing falshoods about other games just because you love that one.

i ll reply the same way the sidemissions in stalker are random and endless find the artifact, kill those guys, you can do em like forever, 40 hours? ok amin story only plz? an also paly far cry 2 by exploring and doing the main story and side missions and i doubt it will be less than 20 hours, especially if you drive, which you do alot and i love it because this is how it supose to do huge belivalbe areas, but stalker? i can had;y belive that this forward progression "move on to the next level" is as open ended as eg postal 2 boiling point or oblivion, i thought you ll be able to get lost in a wide enviroment like google earth shows chernobyl, or like fallout 3 but the worldmap was a joke and the time to complete too for a game in a 5 years of development but instead of add stuff they delete them like they deleted dead city, I WANTED TO PLAY IN A BIG CITY! Thank god there is oblivion lsot mod, with the original guns too, another thing is the few monsters or the rusehe encyclopedia which misses stuff and the shops suck hard, you gor money but not much to buy, you got more money but not something great to reward you for doing extra quests, also they remove the skills and the WHEN you acquire armor , well its just unbalanced, not very helpfull to give you armor so late or decen guns, or ammo, while militray commandos are attacking you, but opps no decent stuff to match them its much later on a 7.5 on my book much more on ffar cry 2 for fixing those issues!

The side missions in STALKER are far more varied than the side missions in FC2. There are two types of side missions in FC2: Blow up a convoy, kill a target. There are a whole lot more in STALKER. And the side missions in STALKER are far more rewarding. There are all sorts of weapons, artifacts, and suits that you can get as rewards, whereas FC2 all you ever get is diamonds. There are just as many guns in STALKER as in FC2 so the fact that you get artifacts and suits, plus some weapon upgrades, makes STALKER's side missions far more rewarding. And how is STALKER's areas not believeable? You do realize that most of the areas in STALKER are modeled after the actual Zone of Alienation right? And I don't get where you say there is money but not much to buy? There are far more items to buy in STALKER (guns, gun mods, artifacts, suits, food) than in FC2. And you must not have tried to play the game at all, because the gear you have available to you at every level is definitely sufficient to take on the enemies you face in that level. Hell you can get a Merc Suit in the beginners camp you start in, and if anything that gives you an unfair advantage over your enemies. I can understand why you love FC2, I absolutely love it as well. But you're really proving yourself to just be an obnoxious fanboy by spitting out there flat out lies about other games.

am startinng to think you havent played stalker? ok by normal means no secret in the first camp or in stalker hideout you find the stalker suit in the bar, you get it for free, till then the unbalancement in killing you badly, about the map, google earth dissagrees, the new areas in stalker clear sky dont explain much, how did they appear or why the limit the map so much and remove levels, as for the 3 shops the trader has nothing, only basic food and 8mm ammo the 8mm pistol and sawed off shotgun with few sells, while when killing enemies you get dozen of that basic stuff and sel them, " here trader get some stuff cuz you got NOTHING" also the trader in bar has the walker pistol the stalker suit and ak 74, the yantar has thes scientict suits the shotgun and gronza ( id dont remeber its stalker name, "ts onz" ithink SO anyone got 5.56 ammo to buy? amror piercing for some HARD EARNED CASH? a exoskeleton suit, for a load of money? or a .... how you call the silenced rifle? or sniper rifles or the fn 2000 (the scoped rilfe with grenade laucher) NO NOBODY, infact you gonna have to find those stuff by killing masterstalkers and collect 5.56 ammo till all enemies you face are really good and use the g36k so you get ammo easy, and not having a 5.56 weapon while they use a poor ak 74 with 7.62, that you use too to save 5.56 ammo cuz you dont get till you reach the wild area (where the mercs are) mostly there is no reason to do sidequests to earn cash, you get better stuff if you complete the main story and not waste time in sidequests, now exploring, will get you something, like artifacts with high radioenergy or a radiocative exoskeleton, bust some of them are good, so no reason to collect cash, but in far cry more diamonds better guns, now if you think that its sufficient or you can kill anyone in facr cry 2 with a bad gun thats you being good, the point is balanced upgrading and in stalker i see no reason to save cash since they arent any expensive great guns or armors available, that i dint get all the 4 times i completed the game, and i explore anything find the extra stuff and easter eggs, which proved that worldmap is so small and linear, why cant i go and free roam in a city or some wide plains instead of keep pressing to pipiyat and chernobyl npp, or the factions are too fake you can might as well screw them both and join no one enter the military base kill them all and keep moving, not much of faction joining! Everything i said was true not a lie!

Ok from what I could make out of that paragraph, you haven't played STALKER, because if you have, you would realize how many falsehoods you are spewing out. But I'm not going to bother correcting them because it's obviously impossible to have a legitimate debate with you.

i ll reply the same way the sidemissions in stalker are random and endless find the artifact, kill those guys, you can do em like forever, 40 hours? ok amin story only plz? an also paly far cry 2 by exploring and doing the main story and side missions and i doubt it will be less than 20 hours, especially if you drive, which you do alot and i love it because this is how it supose to do huge belivalbe areas, but stalker? i can had;y belive that this forward progression "move on to the next level" is as open ended as eg postal 2 boiling point or oblivion, i thought you ll be able to get lost in a wide enviroment like google earth shows chernobyl, or like fallout 3 but the worldmap was a joke and the time to complete too for a game in a 5 years of development but instead of add stuff they delete them like they deleted dead city, I WANTED TO PLAY IN A BIG CITY!

With the amount of time he spends on these boards I'm starting to wonder if he's played any of the games he goes on about.

no i jsut assume people say i hate crysis while a rate warhead with an 8 and i dont got something against stalker i gave it a 7 to shadow of cherrobyl clear sky is much better, now about far cry 2? i think its better than stalker for bigger worldmap the story explains stuff also driving and buying stuff has a meaning, GUNS but in stalker no need for sidequests for bonus money that will be used for guns or amrors since there arent any extra expensive powerfull guns or equipment to buy, only generic ones the good ones you gotta progress the main missions so you can take them from masterstalkers after you kill them, cant find them in shops! About far cry 2? many people defend crysis for the flaws that they hate far cry 2 for, i dont get why all that unfairness so that flaw rocks in crysis but in far cry the same flaw turns the game bad? i dont get it why bashing far cry 2 for the same reasons many outher games can be bashed, its just like they expect to be better than anything but turn like a huge dissapoitment , or simply defend crysis cuz they hate they possubility that MIGHT a bette game comes out, eg that user said that stalker has a big worldmap, wrong everyouther game with a worldmap has bigger so its small, perhaps fable has smaller, so why to listen to him? i completed stalker 4 times and i know everything apart from artifact names and weapon names, so how can he say ma wrong on what i say? do you know of stalker? ask me something...

For one there are plenty of games better than crysis imo, deadspace, cod4, stalker SOC (although CS wasn't that great), Bioshock, Warhead is better than the original. But what does Crysis have to do with Far Cry 2? Stalker is a better comparison to far cry 2. People bash far cry 2 like they bash all games (Stalker got bad reception by some people for all its bugs, Crysis certainly did after the hype died down). Most people just don't seem to like far cry 2 because its flaws are hard to look past to enjoy the game.

i completly i agree on what you said, even on the cod4 is better than crysis and warhead is better than the original but nashing a free roam game or a game with a lot of features because it aint good as fps is not something new, so why all that? i mean people still haven get past the idea tht you cant plat stalker crysi fallout 3 and bioshock or far cry 2 by the same way you play cod 4 because cod is perfectizing it self in the shoot enemies with weapon sight idea, not having armors like stalker or jam like far cry or the fact that far cry 2 has not so reallistic combat is the same as crysis not having reallistic combat but instead you use the suit abilities, but if you dont have all these it would play like cod4, but cod 4 is more polished on "using guns ONLY to kill enemies" so it fells better, so people miss the difirent ideas crysis offers cuz they want cod 4, but because far cry 2 doesnt have those ideas its like you remove the powers from crysis, looks unreallistic so they bash far cry 2 for not being as proper as cod4 and not crysis because it has abilities, but people miss that some people might not see anything great in suit abilities but in far cry 2 worldmap, or again like to play with guns, but still if you use weapons inc far cry 2 and crysis its the shame thing, not very real, but in crysis you shoot the head, well in far cry 2you better shoot the body a headshot isnt that subtle in this game, this is how mostly i paly fps no headshots, guns killl people! Now why i didnt include stalker? simple becaus it relies more in the armor you are wearing and the weapon you use, for me stalker is hyped its not a travel in chernobyl jsut a short game in 5 years in development with small map and bad story, unlikely clear sky is a great game, there is even actual faction joining, but as you said the flaws.. eg its so buggy that ign or gt trailers gaave it gameplay 5.3 but thats wrong its so much better than the previous game!

Why don't you just stick to arguing with fanboys in your native language, cause you clearly cannot do it in english.

I've always wanted to see some Far Cry 2 mods, it's such a beautifully well made world, shame the story lacked so much. I have never modded before, but I'm thinking of spending my summer getting into it, seeing as I'm going to uni to basically get into the gaming industry >

There was barely any Farcry 2 mods when I checked which was a shame because although it wasn't the best game, it was still pretty decent, I don't really care about a zombie mod, what I want is Lions, Elephants and Giraffes on my African Plains :D

Hello 2008 nice to see you again.
