Far Cry doesn't even mean anything. If by attaching the brand they're allowed to do something crazy, then as far as I care they can go ahead and call all games Far Cry.

Well you could say that about every Far Cry since each one is unrelated to the previous one except in concept.

There's probably a reason though, it could be some freaky hallucination twist waiting to happen, or maybe it just reuses the engine and assets but with a cyberpunk vibe so they consider it a spin off.

Mmk, I saw the images now. Looks pretty cool. I'm also wondering what the Far Cry relation is. Obviously, the previous 3 Far Cry games didn't have any actual narrative in common, just the basic premise of being stranded in some strange, hostile place, so it's not so much the addition of the "Far Cry" name that I don't get. It's the inclusion of the "3". Why is this "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon", rather than just another FC game called, perhaps, "Far Cry: Blood Dragon". The fact that the 3 is there leads me to believe that there might be, and  should be  some kind of more direct connection to the events/characters of Far Cry 3.

Well, it's already certainly more colorful than most shooters out there.

sounds like a good idea for an expansion. especially if it's all open like Far Cry 3.
relating it with either the hallucinations or just that it's a character put in a weird place and keeping it open seems like enough to make it Far Cry.

It looked almost complete (or at least, the tutorial did), so hopefully the game is on track for it's initial May 1 release.

If not, more time can't be a bad thing (unless you're Duke Nukem Forever).
