Far Cry - Yes or No?

Well from the reviews on gamespot that ive seen/read, its really stealthy. Can anyone say if it gets too hard from that?

I wouldnt say its so much "stealthy" as it is "tactical."  You really need to do recon of the area youre going into.  After that, you need to take long-distance shots.  Then, when about 1/2 the guys are down, you sneak in and wait.  Or, if youre good enough, you can run and gun.  But you cant do that 100% of the time as the enemies are really good, and youre health and armor are not all that plentiful.

tactical and fun.  turn on hdr lighting...  looks great.  (little overdone, but still great)

Far Cry is the best PC shooter I have ever played, and I've played a lot.  It is a terrific game with incredible replayability.  If you get it, be sure to check out Matto 3 and Matto 4 - these are fun, free single player campaigns you can go through after you've beaten the game (or before, of course).

I've probably spent 200 hours playing Far Cry; it just never gets old!

Even though it received good reviews, I feel like Far Cry is one of the most underrated PC games in years.

The reason being is because I can think of several first-person shooters such as Half-Life 2, Doom 3, and others that got much more press and attention from gamers and websites, when Far Cry had a single player mission that was far and away better than anything offered in those games. 

Far Cry is the TV show "Lost" before it was on TV.  Same theme -- wierd deserted tropical island, strange stuff going on, dark undertones.  Add machine guns to the TV show and you have Far Cry.

Admittedly, the biggest weakness in Far Cry was the online play, which doesn't matter as much since you have played Instincts which made a lot of good improvements which I wish were in the PC version.

The only other negative to the game is how it goes from being very easy to very hard in like one levels time.  And the final sequence is just insanely hard even on easy! 

Still its one of the best games of all time.

I think the game is idiotic. But that's me. And you shouldn't take advice from ogres.

Sadly, my computer hates the game for whatever reason (I have a 7900GS and it still gets choppy in firefights at the lowest settings)... which is really a shame, because I can tell the game has potential. Go for it!Funkyhamster

I think you need to install the patch.  The first versoin has a weird video problem for most people.  Something is not right because I can play the game all maxed at 1280x1024 and get 80FPS even in a fire fight in water.  Your 7900GS is way more than enough for that game.

far cry is one one the best shooters, gets a little repetative i guess about half way through, but by that time you've gotta your money's worth. harrisi17

I think it really only goes downhill after the mutant dudes come out and make the game really hard.  But about half way there is that tree top level which is my favorite part of the whole game!

Far Cry is a good game but a bit old,so you should save you're money and buy some other (newer) game.
