I have only ever paid full price for 3 games. It isn't difficult to be patient and wait for the prices to drop. Even the steam sales will lower the price of even new games by at least $10.

I'm glad that someone mentioned it above me. I was about to explode with rage after reading all this bullshit about $60 prices.
THE WORLD DOESN'T REVOLVE AROUND AMERICA. THERE IS A WORLD OUTSIDE OF IT.
£50 is $84 US. So people in the UK are paying $84 for the game that you are paying $60 for. Fucking idiots.
Just vote with your wallet if you don't like the price. I'll never pay £50 for a PC game. It feels like it was only moments ago that new games were £30 on steam and it was easy to grab a boxed copy for about £20 to £25.
$60 here in AUS, which is cheaper than retail so not bad
When a game comes out here, look at Dick Smith, Target and KMart. Sometimes they have awesome launch prices.
£40 is the most I will pay for a game.... Amazon has the game for £40. Ill just buy it there since they give you a CD you can use on Steam.
Also its pretty much going to be £50 from on for AAA titles.
In Australia, they are asking $74.95 AUS and the Gold editions with Season Passes for $114.95 on Steam. Yet you can get the PS4 physical disc for these prices and you can trade it in later. I cannot resell a Steam game.
Which ass did they pull these prices from?
Maybe their business idea is they want more PC players to acquire the games through other *cough* means.
Witcher 3 is just as bad, $72 AUS. This will be the first time I will play a Witcher game without giving money to them.

Pirating a game isn't going to solve the problem, it just makes it worse.
Just have a look around for good prices, or just wait a couple of weeks for it to come down in price. Simple.

I'd say the £50 on the pc is just pure greed.Shadow of Mordor just popped up on steam and is £30 to preorder. It wasn't that long ago that games were all £30 max on PC. Then there was a quick jump to £40 and now a ridiculous jump to £50 out of the blue.
Anyway, like I said, I will just vote with my wallet. £50 for any PC game is utterly ridiculous.
Haven't paid full price for a game since Skyrim, I don't plan to - certainly not for more than £30.
I paid £20 for FC3 and enjoyed it, i'll probably pay the same for 4.
Honestly though... I still pay the same for games
We didn't though. About 2 years ago, it was almost half the price of this. Basically, we are paying console prices now. Not just console prices, actually more.
Complete bullshit.
Simple solution. DON'T BUY IT.
TROLLS: THE THREAD
Video games have been $60+ since the 90s.
Why does America think the rest of the world is America? I know it's cliche to imply America is incredibly arrogant but when I see this constantly, it's hard not to think, America is incredibly arrogant.
The only arrogant people in this thread seem to be the Europeans. What do you expect your video games to cost when your country REQUIRES a VAT?
Get the **** over it and don't buy the game or change your laws. Those are the only two options you have.
Honestly though... I still pay the same for games

so because you are on the PC, you shouldnt have to pay the same as what console people pay for the same game?
what a self entitled, elitist attitude.
welcome to the real world buddy, where you get no favors.
get it from gmg, they always have %20/25 off coupons, or you can try key sites, but they are likely to scam

actually, the consumer world absolutely does revolve around america.
get mad.
and yeah, they are paying more for the same game.... and their country also has higher import taxes which necessitates the increase in price. yet nobody seems to want to mention that. get more mad.

My friend, I actually read all 500 of your posts. While they are all universally negative (indicating some form of emotional turmoil) many seem to follow this basic pattern..
1. Cynically ask qeastion
2. Answer the qeastion obnoxiously in the same post
3. Personally attack user while simultaneously attempting to inflate ego.
This is a very good website, not too much to read and easily comprehensible.

Regarding the qeastion, it appears to be licensing fee's which the pc does not have.

so because you are on the PC, you shouldnt have to pay the same as what console people pay for the same game?
Actually no, because PC games don't have to pay royalties to either Sony or Microsoft, that's why PC games have always been cheaper than consoles.
Problem is now that PC gaming has become big again (it always was but companies didn't want to recognize it so they could sell consoles), so they are elevating the PC prices to get the $$$ in...

PC games are mostly sold digitally which means more profit per sale plus pc games have no licensing fees like console games do. PC games should be cheaper plain and simple.
Most multiplats are now $60. Pretty sure Black Flag was $60 at launch too. Only Aliens and Shadow of Mordor are $50.
Not too big a deal since I have a huge backlog. GTA V may be the only game I buy at launch this year.
And: Civ, beyond earth, NBA 2k15, borderlands the pre-sequel, F1 2014, Lords of the fallen, the crew, football manager 2014
the games that cost 60$: DA:I, farcry 4, ac4, the evil within, BF Hardline (if we go by steam and origin)
So it looks like being Ubisoft being Ubisoft, Ea trying thier luck, and one bethesda game. Black flag was 50 btw.
Looks to me that they are experimenting with pricing, fairly similar to what is happening on the PS4 store (63 $ wtf? more then retail?)
If people start buying at these prices thier gauging of the consumer base will mean a Price hike with Little doubt.

and not a single thing you said has anything to do with why PC games are so expensive in foreign countries outside of the USA.
it all has to do with import taxes, as well as taxes on entertainment products.
Shrug, don't really know what the problem is. I usually wait a couple of years until the game 1) has been patched 2) dlcs have been released, 3) game and dlcs have been released in a Game of the Year edition, usually for half the price.
Or, wait for the inevitable sale on Steam.
If you're paying full price for a game at launch, well, you have too much money to throw around.
HL3 is the only game I'd buy at launch.

What a load of BS.
Some people really look forward to specific games because it's their favourite series or are really interested, so what's wrong with buying them at launch? I bet you're one of those people that never go to the movies because you say to yourself "well, watching it on DVD will be cheaper"
I too wait for sales on most games, but nothing wrong with buying a game at launch either.

and what i said completely negates what you said.... because taxes have nothing to do with the licensing or publishing of a game. PC prices have been 60 dollars in the USA for ages... it is more expensive in other countries because you guys have higher taxes.
dont like it? then move.... i dont know what else to tell you people.

Nothing you said negates. About $10 of every console game sale goes to the console manufacturer. That's why console games are $60 instead of $50. PC has no licensing fee and is mostly digital. A digital sale yields about double the profit of a retail sale. So a pc game at $60 results in almost 3x the profit of the average console game.
PC games haven't been $60 for ages. Modern Warfare 2 was the first $60 pc game. Then slowly but surely other games started moving up the price. Far Cry 3 and Tombraider were $50.

When it comes to game and hardware innovation, 5 years is ages but not when it comes to pricing.
You still haven't given a reason why publishers should be getting 3x the profit on pc game sales.
