Two good PC FPS games facing off each other, which is a better game, Fear or Bio-shock?

fear was good a while ago when it came out, but right now its old, and it dosent stand up to the rpg/fps goodness that is bioshock, fear is just a fps, while bioshock has more than that in it, although bioshock is short, it is stil a better game, not to mention you can reaplay it a bunch and it dosent get really get old....

Im gonna go with FEAR. I got two play throughs of Bioshock before I was completly bored with it, but it was still a good game. But FEAR has given me quite a few playthroughs with its kick ass combat.

I haven't played either FPS, but I'm more interested in F.E.A.R., mainly because of it's reputation for extremely intelligent A.I.. The only FPSs I've played with particularly good A.I. are S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Far Cry (which is still pretty stupid at times).

F.E.A.R. I didn't have to force myself to play through it like Bioshock.

Bioshock has a more interesting visual style, story, level design and setting.

FEAR is a much more traditional FPS with a more standard combat system, that it is very polished, with superb AI.

Since I've only played FEAR and 10 minutes of Bioshock, I will say that FEAR has a much better controle system. Its much tighter and less clunky...Bioshock on the other hand...

Always being on edge. I felt that Bioshock, while it had a nice atmosphere, and looked great.. the RPG elements are lacking and the story is so-so.

man these are two of my favourite FPS games. But I went with F.E.A.R. just because the gore was better...and better action sequences...but only by a little nudge. Bioshock was also a very immersive FPS which amazing graphics and combat..So in my books they both win :)

I don't really see how that makes it less immersive though. Bioshock isn't an RPG - its an action game, so I think that is a little futile to argue that.

well it was advertised as an fps/rpg game.

All of the freaky moments in the game that cause you to just jump, that kind of stuff really put the player into a kind of on edge perception that keeps the player immersed in the game.

Bioshock did a pretty good job of creating an immersing world but at least for me it didn't do quite as good of a job as FEAR.

Well, FEAR has better gunfights so the better FPS would be FEAR. I think Bioshock as more of an RPG than a FPS.

I actually just finished both games recently... FEAR actually a couple months ago and bioshock yesterday (15$ off steam ;)).

FEAR was a fine game... good suspense, good difficulty, decent story and solid gun fightning. Nothing about it was revolutionary or truly unique, but it was nonetheless a very solid SP FPS.

Bioshock on the otherhand... had a much deeper story, and I really loved the theme and setting. The combat wasn't as solid as it could have been and by the end the enemies did get repetitive... but I am a pretty big sucker for the FPSRPG genre... and this is the best one to come along since VTMB. As far as difficulty goes... well playing it for your first time on hard with vita-chambers turned off was enough of a challenge to keep me interested. I truly enjoyed the game overall (the $15 price tag and somewhat low expectations helped) and was glad I bought it.

So overall... FEAR if you like FPS... and Bioshock if you like FPSRPG. FEAR is probably overall a stronger game with no real weakness but no huge strength or must-play factor. Bioshock on the otherhand is a bit more interesting and tries some different things, but overall it tends to be a bit more hit and miss.

FEAR. Better combat, nice implementation of Slow-mo, and better enemy A.I.

Bioshock had a very impressive art style, a story that is told better than FEAR, and some moments, but I thought the combat was boring. The wrench is kinda overpowered in some places. Plasmids are kinda fun though. Also, I don't feel that there's a hefty amount of replay value in Bioshock.

I prefer Bioshock a thousand times, it was fun, has a good story and really immersive. Fear was just hugely overrated, the scary parts were not scary, the combat repetitive like no other and the story was trash. Winner BIOSHOCK :o.

I was just joking around, but the water does look amazing. I prefer the story of Bioshock, I hate being scared out of my mind (it's not entertaining for me) like I was while I played FEAR.

F.E.A.R, if you can ignore the repetitive enviroments & enemies, the game's just amazing.. :) shooting mechanics are some of the best ive ever seen, really awesome gunfights & combat. Also it has slow mo ability too :) ...another reason i loved it so much.

Bioshock has a much better story. Keeps you interested in the game. The game aslo allows you to choose right from wrong. I mean it got so many awards for a reason.

I choose Bioshock but I liked both games a great deal. I find it amusing that some people pick because they disliked one game more then the other but they didn't like either game. If I don't like a game i wouldn't feel compelled to comment because I wouldn't have finished it and would have unistalled.

Having played though both I can say Fear is a much more refined and typical fps with moments that can make you jump out of your seat if played in the dark. Bioshock although well made with good replay values and a some what sandbox type of game play it may not appeal to all fps fans. I personally think fear is the better fps.

F.E.A.R, hands down.
I wasn't a big fan of Bioshock from what I've played, and I'm not a fan of the whole Steam-punk (if that's what you'd call it) business, however unique it is for a game.

F.E.A.R however, I loved. Military Clones, paranormal activity and the smartest AI to grace an FPS yet, IMO.
The the only things that dragged it down, IMO, were the enemys you face towards the end, and the repetition of the environments.

Both are excellent. FEAR has better AI and is truly scary, but Bioshock has much more interesting setting and gameworld. I think if you want a one time experience go for Bioshock, but if you want to be challenged play FEAR and put it on a tougher setting. You will be amazed at what the enemy AI pulls off.
