I haven't played either FPS, but I'm more interested in F.E.A.R., mainly because of it's reputation for extremely intelligent A.I.. The only FPSs I've played with particularly good A.I. are S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Far Cry (which is still pretty stupid at times).
Bioshock has a more interesting visual style, story, level design and setting.
FEAR is a much more traditional FPS with a more standard combat system, that it is very polished, with superb AI.
Since I've only played FEAR and 10 minutes of Bioshock, I will say that FEAR has a much better controle system. Its much tighter and less clunky...Bioshock on the other hand...IronSalamander
Huh? The control system? Its a standard K+M setup...
Having played both games I got to go with FEAR, its much more entertaining/immersive. filmography
What makes it more immersive?

I don't really see how that makes it less immersive though. Bioshock isn't an RPG - its an action game, so I think that is a little futile to argue that.

All of the freaky moments in the game that cause you to just jump, that kind of stuff really put the player into a kind of on edge perception that keeps the player immersed in the game.
Bioshock did a pretty good job of creating an immersing world but at least for me it didn't do quite as good of a job as FEAR.
fear was good a while ago when it came out, but right now its old, and it dosent stand up to the rpg/fps goodness that is bioshock, fear is just a fps, while bioshock has more than that in it, although bioshock is short, it is stil a better game, not to mention you can reaplay it a bunch and it dosent get really get old....fuchuzz
Dude, you cant compare it that way. He's asking you to compare the games on how great they were in their time.
I actually just finished both games recently... FEAR actually a couple months ago and bioshock yesterday (15$ off steam ;)).
FEAR was a fine game... good suspense, good difficulty, decent story and solid gun fightning. Nothing about it was revolutionary or truly unique, but it was nonetheless a very solid SP FPS.
Bioshock on the otherhand... had a much deeper story, and I really loved the theme and setting. The combat wasn't as solid as it could have been and by the end the enemies did get repetitive... but I am a pretty big sucker for the FPSRPG genre... and this is the best one to come along since VTMB. As far as difficulty goes... well playing it for your first time on hard with vita-chambers turned off was enough of a challenge to keep me interested. I truly enjoyed the game overall (the $15 price tag and somewhat low expectations helped) and was glad I bought it.
So overall... FEAR if you like FPS... and Bioshock if you like FPSRPG. FEAR is probably overall a stronger game with no real weakness but no huge strength or must-play factor. Bioshock on the otherhand is a bit more interesting and tries some different things, but overall it tends to be a bit more hit and miss.
FEAR. Better combat, nice implementation of Slow-mo, and better enemy A.I.
Bioshock had a very impressive art style, a story that is told better than FEAR, and some moments, but I thought the combat was boring. The wrench is kinda overpowered in some places. Plasmids are kinda fun though. Also, I don't feel that there's a hefty amount of replay value in Bioshock.
[QUOTE="SimpJee"]Bioshock, you have to be crazy to choose FEAR over it. CRAZZZZY! I mean loony crazy too. Straight nuts.fatshodan
Why?
Water. That's right I said it, water. Water is the reason why new graphic engines are made, and Bioshock does water better than any other game

There's water.. unless you're talking about shooting electricity. i can't think of anything. and beautiful water doesn't effect how lightning is conducted. electricity isn't judging in that way.

I was just joking around, but the water does look amazing. I prefer the story of Bioshock, I hate being scared out of my mind (it's not entertaining for me) like I was while I played FEAR.
FEAR All the Way.
Better gameplay, Graphics are damn good and don't require much from PC, while Bioshock...
