Tell me whats the difference between 4/10 and 5/10? Both games the vast majority of people are not going to buy anything below 6 or 7 out of 10..

StopThePresses

There is very little difference between a 4 adn 5, I was jsut saying in my opinion what I played of the beta was a 5/10 for me personally.

Me and Kevin agree on this game, I dont agree with alot of his other scores though.

I said 5/10 for me because it shows how I thought the game was abotu the same as he did, where as Elemental he gave 4/10 and I gave 9/10.

I agree with Kevin V on some games, but defiantly dont on some others (Elemental and Alpha PRotocol I loved, he didnt, the new FF we both didnt like much).

I was jsut saying that peopel in general should try gaems first instead of just goign by one sties reviews, we all dont have the same opinions on things, what one person hates another might LOVE. In Alpha PRotocol I loved the story, choices and gameplay, I can look passed some Optimization issues if a game gives me high fun factor, godo story and what not. Some others want graphcis and optimization. Everyone is differnt is what im trying to get across.

Some of my favorite games are rated 7 or lower, so I pay ZERO attention to reviews, I try the games myself.

The whole point of reviews is to determine whether or not to buy a game in the first place, so it's a little odd to say that people should try it. I'm not trying every game that is released. That's just conceptually ludicrous, even if money was not an issue. If this is some kind of code for, "Pirate the game first," well, no.

Yeah people seem not to understand this.. Reviews are buyer's guides.. Thats why I am infavor for a 5 point system.. 5 being amazing, 4 being great, 3 being good.. and 2 being average.... 1 being not worth it.. The point of the matter is this 10 point system is ridiculous.. I mean 6 points out of the 10 are ranges of games that the radically majority of people shouldn't buy.. Which is wierd.. We have a larger scale of numbers to differenitate crap games, then we do good games. that makes little sense.

I giggled when i saw it.

I lol'd to bad. APB had a higher score and failed in a few months.

Now let us wait for the servers to shut down.

PcGamingRig

i doubt the servers will shut completely down because japanese people will probably still play it in their hordes, maybe the american/uk servers.

Someone on these forums said that the Japanese players were cursing Square Enix for having some crappy Chinese developer work on the game to save time and money.

I was little surprised with the review. I do believe Kevin is one of the better reviewers, especially when it comes to role playing game.

I spent some time in the beta and it did had problems, all MMO usually do, especially in beta stages. However, if what Kevin says is true then many of those problems haven't been fixed or worked on,

We'll see how it goes in future. The console version is months away and by that time I expect PC patches to fix most of the problems, hopefully..

I agree, rating out of 10 is just silly, REALLY 5/10 should be average....but for some reason it means terrible. GiantBomb's 5 start system is perfect for rating games by. I remember some websites used to review games out of %, what madness.

i disagree. the entire number point review system is not for gamers who visit gaming sites more than twice a week. it is for people who want to buy games for their grandson or people who do not keep up for games. in other words, number point system is completely useless if you are posting on this forum. many of you are missing a fundamental point. pros and cons of a gamer are treated differently by different people but that doesn't mean they are wrong. for example the game dreamkiller got fairly low review scores (50 on metacritic). http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/dreamkiller/review.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary%3Bread-review but you know what? i liked this game. this was far more enjoyable to me than say dawn of war. because i like mindless shooters. at the time all i had been playing was cod4 and i got tired of realistic weapons, reloading, lack of double jump, lack of rocket jumping, just plain old bored of military shooters. i read the review and it had the things i wanted; unconvential monsters, mouse-breaking repetitive shooting that would drive many people a little insane. sure i could have seen the giant 5 and declared it crap, except that there was WRITING in the review too, that could be READ. gamespot is the first bookmark on my browser toolbar and you know what? im not silly enough to go by review scores alone. i read. if a game has an mmo has a broken buggy interface i'll never touch it. i HATE it. if you are one of those people that are able to put up with it in order to enjoy another aspect (crafting maybe) then that game is awesome for you, not for me. Kevin V is not pull a number out of thin air, he explains very well EXACTLY what he likes and dislikes about a game. from that point onwards its up to YOU as an educated gamer to decide whether you want to play it or not. the fact that at the time of review (this is when the game was released) opening the inventory requires multiple key presses is a very good indication of why i DO NOT want to play this FFXIV. READ your reviews people, and stop looking at numbers.
