Hey everyone,

I'm building my first computer and my budget is $800. It will be used for the basics (internet, some school stuff, etc.) as well as gaming. After doing some research and reading reviews, this is the build I have come up with:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146025

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128359

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115132

Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227289

Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102803

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148262

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817814015

DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136153

I have a new 21.5" widescreen monitor (not part of the budget) and I will use the keyboard, mouse and speakers from my old computer.

Some concerns:

1. Do I need to invest in an aftermarket CPU cooler?

2. Is the PSU overkill for this build?

3. Compatibility (I think everything is compatible, but I am new at this and may have made some obvious mistakes).

I'm pretty set on this build, but I would like some approval from people with experience. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The PSU is way over what you need. A true 500W would do just fine. No need for an aftermarket CPU cooler unless you plan to overclock or wish to reduce noise.

Your RAM is a little expensive. This is the exact same thing for much less.

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

Haha, and I love how this forum has got everyone paranoid about the PSU and making them go balls-out on them. 700W for a HD 4830? Really? Hahahaha. You can power a GTX 280 in SLI for all I know!

Seriously, this baby will be plenty for your HD 4830. Even Corsair themselves recommend the exact same PSU for my HD 4850.

Too true! Thank you both, I'll look into this stuff.

Edit: Regarding the memory I chose, I save $15 when I combo it with the video card, plus it has a $30 mail in rebate.

Another Edit: Going with the Corsair CX400 takes $100 off the total price after additional savings. Can I get a second opinion on this PSU? I don't plan on overclocking (not anytime soon at least).

Also, if I could get opinions on the rest of the system that would be great.
