Hello, I'm looking into building a computer for the very first time, and I had a few quick questions. First of all, can the computer that is featured in this forum http://www.gamespot.com/forums/topic/26986920/picture-guide-to-computer-building-and-hardware-installation-56k?tag=topics%3Btitleplay The Witcher 1 and 2, Crysis 1 and 2, Shogun 2: Total War, Starcraft 2, and the Warhammer series? I've never been into PC gaming and I know little to nothing about it. Would the PC with all the parts he has shown here also be likely to play The Old Republic whenever it comes out? If not, can anyone give me a complete list of the EXACT parts I would need to do so? I'm not looking to necessarily max out settings, I just want to be able to comfortably enjoy any of the above games. I'd also like to spend no more then $800. I'd prefer the $700 and below range personally.Also, as someone who's never built a computer before, are there any risks I should know about?

That wont play the games, its also really old.

And this is $800 USD right? if it is, then wait, Im not from the US so I dont know prices.

Basically you want;

AMD Phenom 2 955

4GB RAM DDR3

AM3+ mobo

6850 or GTX 460 GPU and better obviously

HDD/DVD drives, cheap anyway.

500 watt good brand PSU

Case with leftover money

I don't have any parts, by "I have all the other stuff" I was reffering to the keyboard, mouse, and monitor from the other question.And my budget is a max of $800. I'd love to get away with no more then $700 though!

Hmm. What kind of monitor? What resolution would you be playing at? You can def build a decent gaming rig for $700-800. It won't play everything on max settings, but you can get away with medium-good.

Ops, I forgot about the OS, $99. So you only got $150 left. I guess a 1GB 460 would do but it won't last. If you can add $100 more for your budget this build would last for a long time, if not then you can go AMD. You just need to change the CPU to Phenom II X4 955 BE and AM3+ Mobo.

Honestly, I MIGHT have the OS, and even if I don't I actually wasn't going to include that in my budget. Should have mentioned that. Thank you very much for the build you've listed!As someone who's never made a computer and knows little to nothing about them, it's been a pretty intimidating process trying to figure all of this out.

The build above it great, I just like the haf 912 more, more space inside. I suggest the 6950, you can get one for under 225$ after mail in rebate.
