Halo on Xbox

Halo on PC

Halo better on the PC.  I've played both.

Why is it better?  Mouse/Keyboard, better resolutions, more immersion.

I'm sure Gears of War would be more of the same.  But then again GoW is 3rd person, so you might need to take this thread to system wars, because that is what this thread is.

Because it's a dumb question, Why do halo and gears sell so much? It because it's the only really excellent shooter games for the x360, the PC FPS base is larger, but is spread out over many more games, Some people play BF2142, some play CS:S, some play CS 1.6, some play UT, some play AA, some play RTCW, and so on and on.

Halo on the PC probably didn't even go Gold so why is that. WHy don't PC FPS games sell well that is the question. Is it because the PC gaming community is soo small or is because everyone pirates PC games and never buy them.

Pc doesn't work the same as consoles, they don't have their entire platform backing it up. Have you never been to the individual game forums?
I've always noticed BF2142 guys bashing Quake Wars and Quake Wars guys bashing BF2142. Same goes for every rivalry on the pc.
while on the console level. This only happends between different consoles and not on the same system. Halo 3 guys bashing GeoW? Unheard off.

Why don't Xbox 360 online games sell well?  I mean the number one online game is WoW.

I don't know why they don't sell as many, maybe it's because more people play consoles or maybe there so many more fps games on PC than there are on console that alot of people buy different PC fps. But for console there's only so many imo that are worth buying so everyone gets it.

But I only stick to computer for games and I think they're better for fps gaming because a mouse is a lot better for reflex reactions, quick aim and shoot motions and is a lot smoother. Also, the keyboard set up is nice for fps games.

But other than controls and stuff PC can offer higher graphics, even though I care more about gameplay, and people can usually make custom made maps and download mods/patches.

Personally, i believe its because FPS's on consoles are the most widely played style of game. RTS/RPG are much harder and take more time to play, alot because of the controls. But FPS is easier, so thats another reason why they sell so well.

well gears of war and Halo series are insanely good sellers. Half-Life 2 sold 4 million on the PC :) Half-Life sold 8 million on PC (1998 though) Battlefield 2 and 1942 sold ~2.5 million on PC There are plenty of other fps games on PC that have sold probably near 2 million but numbers aren't easy to come by.For example I'd be extremely confident that Far Cry and Doom 3 have exceeded 1 million, Doom 3 probably 2.
The Sims is just insane, it's a more casual game and appeals to more gamers.

Because consoles have very few really good fps games so everyone buys the same one. On PC you got the Battlefield, CoD, MoH, Half Life series, CS:S, Quake, Doom, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and the list goes on...           and unlike consoles not very many people get every fps game out there and only stick to a few. And sometimes there no need to get a new game every now and then because new maps and mods come out for most games.

For one thing. If you have a console, it will be able to play that game you want to buy. That isn't the same for PC games, system requirements prevent certain games from being bought. Also, as previously stated numerous times......people vary a lot on their choices when it comes to PC FPS.

OR is it because PC games have so much replayability with the mods that noone feels the need to buy a new game. Or maybe it's because the fanbase is spread out over so many more excellent games umlike the consoles where there is only one definitive game.

I ask a very simple question that was on my mind and i am automatically labeled a troll? I think the main reason the PC games are not moving that many titles is because of piracy and many people are losing interest in PC gaming because of the constant upgrades and price. Plus because consoles are becomign more and more attractive. COD2 came out on the PC before the Xbox version but has already sold over a million for Xbox. In the 90s games like Half Life sold over 8 million copies but piracy was not as rampant in those days as it is now. We have fast internet connections and basically anyone can get any PC game for free if they wanted to plus stores don't carry that many PC games as they use to.

By your logic, the Xbox is terrible for online gaming.  WoW on PC is the most popular online game and outsells anything on the Xbox.

First, not as many people as you think pirate games and second, once again more people bought CoD2 on Xbox than computer is because that was probally the only good fps worth getting for $50 for consoles.

Also, computer gaming isn't expensive if you think about it. You can have a comp that plays med-high graphics on todays games and have it for another 2-4 years, except at this moment people might get dx10 cards but after that one comp upgrade can last a long time. Some people that have the money like to always have the top line PC and others always think that if you don't have the top stuff you can't play very well but they're wrong.

piracy has been around for a long time and while internet speeds have gotten much faster the protection methods and levels of authentication have gotten quite higher. I remember the days when games came on floppy disks and you just copy the game straight from your friends copy and boom new game. The reason why PC retail games probably aren't selling as well are a combination of factors. Piracy is probably a minor one. I personally think that MMORPGs and online distribution are the big reasons why retail PC games aren't selling as well in recent times. Firstly MMORPGs have montly fees associated with them, they are designed to be played for months or even years because that's how they get money. If people are playing a few MMORPGs and paying regulary payments then they have less money for new games and they have less time for new games. Online distribution sales aren't tracked. NPD attempted to estimate the 2005 digital sales and subscriptions and they estimated that it's around 1/3rd the retail sales. Which is pretty large. Now this sector has been constantly growing, more MMOS, more dist systems. Steam is larger, D2D, etc. Piracy if you ask me would be a relatively small factor. Many games are online or require online authetication and no cracks can bypass these online systems anywhere near as easily as just a single player offline game.

From a demographics standpoint, I think there's an easy explanation of why "The Sims" outsells shooters on the PC.

Chicks don't play consoles much, and they rarely play shooters.  But they do use computers, and they love "The Sims".

Frankly, I've never seen what anyone sees in The Sims.  One of the computers I bought came with a copy of The Sims.  I played it for a couple of hours and gave it away.

why? Does it beat it in terms of fun....or competition. Not everyone plays FPS because they want to go online and have the best percision with their mouse ( not saying that I dont love this too ) but im speaking in terms of a broader audience. The general public just wants to pick up a gun and kill things...this is why console first person shooters are awesome....they are just plain fun. In addition you dont have to worry about computer specs, installation, and all that crap.

heres something else to think about. if fps is so much better on consoles then why is it always outsold by madden.  for the same reason sims outsells bf, doom, half life etc.(not saying they dont sell well, cuz they do).  their is a larger demographic for the sims or madden than there is for shooters

some of us dont worry about our specs as much as see it as fun to upgrade to newer better components so we get better graphics sooner.  also how are console shooters so much more fun.  in general they are much easier and more linear with less of an emphasis on anything tactical or deep about combat.

Sims is the only game that my girlfriend will play on the computer, but on the 360 she love rainbow six vegas. I think that it is a little strange but at least it is time that we can play games together.

Piracy is the main problem. That and the fact that console games are a lot more appealing to the casual gamers.

Exactly. the only point im trying to make is that it is narrow minded to say one way of playing a game is better than another when It all comes down to your personal opinion and what you want out of the game as a player. Some of us want to upgrade and mod the **** outa our games, and some of us could care less. Some of us want the best percision so we use a M&KB, while some of us dont mind using a controller and having a little bit of auto aim. The main point of a game is to have fun....right? So as long as you are involved into the game, it doesn't matter what you are using to control it.

Sims is the only game that my girlfriend will play on the computer, but on the 360 she love rainbow six vegas. I think that it is a little strange but at least it is time that we can play games together.

Damn.  Hang on to her my friend.

[QUOTE="rasstarman"]Basically every game you just listed is on the console.Subcritical

But its better on the PC.  I guess you just don't get it, troll.

Why is he/she a troll for stating the obvious?

You make yourself look even more idiotic by calling that person a troll.

1942 isn't on console BF2 isn't on console as the same game Far Cry isn't on console as the same gamenutcrackr
I actually just bought Far Cry for the PC since I really liked playign it online with the Xbox. FIrst I got a cd key in use error then found out if you experienced an error joining a server you must wait 5-10 minutes for the key to clear the server or reset your online connection. I finally got on a server out of the few that had any players and I was like damn....The game looks and plays horrible compared to the Xbox version which was a lot of fun. My PC can play it at the highest settings but it's not fun at all.

I have tried many PC games and the only game I can say that is really appealing is BF2, BF2142 and Company of Heroes.

You are right.  Its true.  I'm an idiot.  That is why I come into the PC forum and say that console gaming is better.

Ah.  The true troll is still coming out.

I'm happy you like your Xbox.  Don't try to come into a PC forum, making a case that you like gaming on your Xbox better.  That is System Wars fodder.

PC>Console gaming.  I feel that way.  Every game that comes out on the Xbox and PC is better on the PC.  That is why I'm in the PC forum.

You feel differently.  That is why Gamespot has an Xbox forum or System Wars, so you can cuddle up to your Xbox and say how it is superior for you than the PC.

But guess what?  You're wrong.

When did I say console gaming is better? I didn't know there was such a thing as a Computer fanboy and the Personal Computer is not a gaming console so it makes no sense to compare the two.
