[QUOTE="rasstarman"]I actually just bought Far Cry for the PC since I really liked playign it online with the Xbox. FIrst I got a cd key in use error then found out if you experienced an error joining a server you must wait 5-10 minutes for the key to clear the server or reset your online connection. I finally got on a server out of the few that had any players and I was like damn....The game looks and plays horrible compared to the Xbox version which was a lot of fun. My PC can play it at the highest settings but it's not fun at all.[QUOTE="nutcrackr"]1942 isn't on console BF2 isn't on console as the same game Far Cry isn't on console as the same gameSubcritical
I have tried many PC games and the only game I can say that is really appealing is BF2, BF2142 and Company of Heroes.
Ah. The true troll is still coming out.
I'm happy you like your Xbox. Don't try to come into a PC forum, making a case that you like gaming on your Xbox better. That is System Wars fodder.
PC>Console gaming. I feel that way. Every game that comes out on the Xbox and PC is better on the PC. That is why I'm in the PC forum.
You feel differently. That is why Gamespot has an Xbox forum or System Wars, so you can cuddle up to your Xbox and say how it is superior for you than the PC.
But guess what? You're wrong.

I just play the solo game because it's more fun.
The only reason FPS is best on pc but yet not as popular as console FPS comes from the hype that typical console games get. Geow, halo2 etc. all had alot more hype than comparative pc franchises and thus in the minds of the average gamer they seemed more attractive.
But even if pc ever loses the FPS wars... it will always be the best for RTS. That's undeniable.:)

You are right. I don't try to hide the fact that I'm probably one of the biggest PC fanboys. That is why I spend most of my time in the PC forum. I've tried consoles. I don't like them. I don't see their point. I lack console-compassion, I suppose.
If I want to argue with Xbox gamers, I go into System Wars to do so. I don't go into the Xbox 360 forum and start saying stuff like, "Wow FPS games sell so many on the Xbox, but why are they so much better on the PC?"
Why don't they sell well? Games on the consoles like Halo and Gears of War is selling over 3 million while the top sellign PC game has been The Sims for many years. rasstarman
I think its mainly due to 3 reasons.
1.More advanced graphics
2.Easier to control with the mouse and keyboard
3.Mod support and superior online modes
Price is the main reason. Want to play Morrowind on pc in 2002 your looking at $1500 to rival the performance of xbox. Want to play Oblivion on pc your looking at an upgrade cost of a $1000 plus. Of course this is if you build it yourself which would be a daunting task for many. If you actually bought a complete pc to rival console performance it would have been at least $2500 each.
$2500 if you built yourself or $5,000 if you bought complete vs $1,100 for xbox, 360 and a general use pc.

I cant think of any fps game that came out on both platforms around the same time for both gens. If there had been the same would apply. Hardware cost is definately the main reason why HL2 is at maybe 5 million sold at this point and Halo 2 is at about 10 million sold.
How about GTA? Wanna play GTA in 2002 and GTA4 next year on pc your looking at $3k plus built yourself, $5k plus prebuilt. PS2 and PS3 is what? $800?
OR is it because PC games have so much replayability with the mods that noone feels the need to buy a new game. Or maybe it's because the fanbase is spread out over so many more excellent games umlike the consoles where there is only one definitive game.zayl99I agree with that. Buy one game - get 5 mods for free. I'm still playing an old BF1942 mod more than any other game...Mods are good for the PC gamer but maybe not for PC gaming.
Why don't they sell well? Games on the consoles like Halo and Gears of War is selling over 3 million while the top selling PC game has been The Sims for many years. rasstarmanGaming PC's are expensive but for those that can afford them they give the best gaming experience. HL2 sold 4 mil. Halo didn't sell well on PC because it was dated and average by the time it arrived. PC gamers have a lot of choice in games, console players don't. Pc gamers can afford to be picky when it comes to games. Sims is casual friendly so sells well. THe wow expansion sold 2.4million copies in 24 hours. If like the PS3 for example there were only a tiny handful of games then they would sell more.
I agree with Subcritical for the most part. I really don't think whatever argument is presented will convince the OP. I think he raises an interesting point but who cares. As long as the games keep comming for the PC and they are superior what difference does it make what he thinks.
Most of the reasons this is so have been debated in the thread. But one of them I like is that you can save anywhere. I hate paying for the same realistate twice.
Halo on the PC probably didn't even go Gold so why is that.rasstarman
or is because everyone pirates PC games and never buy them.rasstarman

3k, 5k? lol my 1400$ system will pwn GTA4. And it does much more than play a small selection of average games like the PS3. Face it, you're over exaggerating prices way too much, 8800s are already dropping, soon quad cores will be affordable... and my system will still be blasting these PS3/X360 games if they are remotely optimized. If you're wondering I have an 8800GTS OC, C2D E6300 @ 350FSB, 2gb of 667 @ 4-4-4-15 and a SATAII Raid 0... all that on a small micro ATX killer QPack HTPC case. I got it for less than 1400$, if you search well, u'll find affordable prices.[QUOTE="rasstarman"]Halo on the PC probably didn't even go Gold so why is that.corky842

Because consoles have very few really good fps games so everyone buys the same one. On PC you got the Battlefield, CoD, MoH, Half Life series, CS:S, Quake, Doom, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and the list goes on... and unlike consoles not very many people get every fps game out there and only stick to a few. And sometimes there no need to get a new game every now and then because new maps and mods come out for most games.
Halo on Xbox
Halo on PC
Halo better on the PC. I've played both.
Why is it better? Mouse/Keyboard, better resolutions, more immersion.
I'm sure Gears of War would be more of the same. But then again GoW is 3rd person, so you might need to take this thread to system wars, because that is what this thread is.

I guess its your opinion but i would like some support for it atleast. I would take mouse and keyboard over a controller any day.

How am I trying to start a flame war? I do play a PC game (Battlefield 2142) and it's one of the best but I always here people say the PC is the best in FPS games but they don't tend to sell many so why? How the hell is that starting a flame war?
it happens....but not often
Pc doesn't work the same as consoles, they don't have their entire platform backing it up. Have you never been to the individual game forums?
I've always noticed BF2142 guys bashing Quake Wars and Quake Wars guys bashing BF2142. Same goes for every rivalry on the pc.
while on the console level. This only happends between different consoles and not on the same system. Halo 3 guys bashing GeoW? Unheard off.

You actually agreed with me without realizing it, lol. $1500 for the pc in 2002, then $1500 for 2008. That how I came up with $3k for self built when you could play both games for less than a 3rd of the price on PS. Lets face it, most people dont want to build a pc themselves so the costs become much higher.
How can people use price of the pc as an argument. I would've got a 360 but the price of the HDTV is stopping me from purchasing one. Seriously $1500 for a tv just to play the console? No thanks. Also if you're playing your 'next gen' console on an SDTV then you're NOT getting next gen graphics. IMO playing a 360 on a SDTV is a waste.draak3000
I doubt many people buy a hdtv strictly for games. I bet more are sold for sports and primetime shows than gaming. I gaurantee you more people own a hdtv than a pc that can run cutting edge games. A 32" hdtv is about the same price now as a 32" sdtv was 10 years ago.
HDTV's are simlarly priced to pc lcd monitors in regards to size anyway. Just move the recliner a little closer to the screen.
