I thought I should warn people about an E-mail that has probably been sent your way if you own Starcraft 2 or Diablo III.

I knew this E-mail is BS even before I checked in with the real Blizzard Entertainment because I don't own Diablo III! They should have checked before trying to con me :P I do own Starcraft 2 though.

I know some of you will know about this, but I remember when I didn't so this is for our honoured noobs.

Here is the E-mail:

Greetings!

It has come to our attention that you are trying to sell your personal Diablo III account(s).
As you may not be aware of, this conflicts with the EULA and Terms of Agreement.
If this proves to be true, your account can and will be disabled.
It will be ongoing for further investigation by Blizzard Entertainment's employees.
If you wish to not get your account suspended you should immediately verify your account ownership.

You can confirm that you are the original owner of the account to this secure website with:

I am getting a few of those everyday, and a few rare horse blizzards too.

Just check the spelling, the china men always make loads of grammatical errors and misspellings.

I get them for a bunch of MMOs as well as online banking.

I got some for Guild Wars and ToR even though I never even bought them.

I got one just last night, though about WOW, which I haven't played in about 2 years.

But I contacted Blizzard to be sure, (not through the link provided in the email)

They assured it was fake, I have an authenticator on my acct, plus a decent password. As long as you can still get into your acct around, I would change your password if you don't have an authenticator.

I get those as well. Mostly from WoW. Surprisingly none from TOR, which was the only other MMO that was linked to that email.

Eh. Not a threat for anyone who pays attention. You pretty much can't have any real contact with Blizzard without them reminding you that "a real blizzard agent will never ask you for any account information". Which makes sense, because a real blizzard agent has access to all the information they could possibly want about your account, and if they're talking to you, they probably have all that information right on their screen in front of them.

My Yahoo filter has blocked all but one spam email for the past few years, it's better than I ever expected it would ever be.
