As opposed to the illegal MMO's? I'm not sure if there's a crack addiction MMO real enough to be illegal, althought WoW in its peak was awfully close.

Assuming you mean F2P MMO's, LOTR:O is easily the best one that doesn't force the money shop to have fun. Not sure how well it scales for older computers but most MMO's are well optimized to increase potential playerbase.

I'm playing DC Universe Online and I'm having a blast. I did spend ten bucks on the Fight for the Light DLC but it was definitely worth it.

Well, I assume you know about all the free Korean grind fests. Is that sort of game one you would play?

By illegal he means free private servers of pay to play MMORPGs.

Well...there are tons, none I woulc really recommend though tbh, L2 is decent but it's a sandbox game that has been turned into a theme park forcefully, and it doesn't feel right currently...but it's private servers aren't illegal, if they are running older versions of the game which were much better.

He means as opposed to the illegal private servers that are up for many MMO's including WoW.

There are a lot of free MMORPGs out there but they're mostly grindfests. Lord of the Rings Online, Age of Conan, DC Universe, and Star Trek Online are some of the best but they get to be really tedious to level up. They're all free so try any one that looks good to you.

Playing LotRO right now with a friend. Gotta say, this game is pretty polished compared to some of the other free MMOs out there right now. The crafting system is expansive. You can learn a pretty wide variety of 'vocations' (cooking, farming, smithing, woodworking, jeweler...etc), and can even buy a 'house' (hobbit holes in the shire which is affected by particular vocations (for example, you can till the soil on the front lawn of your house and grow pipe weed/food used for cooking). The combat isn't the greatest (not as fluid as WoW), but it gets better as you level .I really started having fun with the game around level 10. The cool thing about the game is that you can either buy new content to unlock it, for a pretty reasonable price, or get points by questing ingame and unlocking it.
