Hey guys, was just going to ask people if they have ever experienced that feeling on counter strike or other games like wow, where you actually have like an addiction to it. Its strange, there is something which always draws me back to cs 1.6 even when i have stopped playing it for weeks. Yes its my favourite game, but its the only game which I can keep playing all year round and never get bored of the same maps. I could just play dust maps all day lol. I think its partially because everytime I play its a new experience and different situation. I might sound a bit sad but im just wondering, does anyone else here have the same experience with counter strike or any other game in general?

Would be great to hear some thoughts,

Thanks

Sean

Well im not really addicted to one game as I am all games in general. I have over 100 PC games installed right now and play maybe up to 5 at a time, I just can't bring myself to uninstall any.

Funny thing is I don't even have the money to buy these games, all of the money comes from government student loans, so yeah, im addicted!

Not really, I tend to throw games out the window after giving them a couple playthroughs and a bunch of hours online. Really great games tend to last longer, but not much more than a couple of months. CS1.6 lasted me more than a few months, but that was only because I was playing it with friends.

i know exactly what you're saying. I feel the same way about cs 1.6. i've had it since 03 or 04 and played it fairly frequently since then. even right now after i read your post it makes me want to play it, it really is a different situation everytime.

I don't think you can call that an addiction, more like an hobby, like someone who never get tired of playing hockey, baseball, or even someone who pass all his day to play with his electric railroad, etc. I have the same experience as you, although with Guild wars. I just can't get tired of the pvp, I will take some pause, but I alway come back.

No i've come to the point where i will call it an "addiction". Why? Well because i just get the urge to play it sometimes and when I play it and have enough time, its not for an hour, its usually long sessions. Funny you mentioned Guild Wars, as that was another game which I found kept me coming back for more, although that game I find no where near as bad in terms of addictiveness, compared to counter strike. I think also cs 1.6 is a game which requires skill and lots of practice, another reason i have put many hours into it. Also I find myself getting slightly pissed when say i have dont get a good score or "win" that situation, but at the same time there is that slight rush when u land a headshot. lol am i sounding weirder or can people relate?

Thanks for the posts guys, keep em coming!

lol... Some people may call it an addiction but everybody has their own hobby of obsession. CS was a extraordinary shooter and it still is even today. Personally the most fun I get out of CS is the zombie mod which is just endless fun over countless of hours in other words it never gets old.

Its not addiction if it doesnt interfere with the rest of your life. Just because you find yourself wanting to play CS (who doesnt) just mean's its an excellent game, not that you're an addict.

Can't say the same for WoW though, people are pretty "off" about it sometimes...

So the bottom line is, if your gaming doesn't interfere with the rest of your life, you're okay.

I was addicted to an mmo at one point... then I got bored with it and quit. I've resolved never again to play an mmo ;). I'm just sticking with fps and so on from now on.

Thanks for the replies people :). Well i've changed my mind, I think the majority in this post have stated thats its not an addiction and more a "want" to play it. Well i think your right, its probably just something i do to kill my free time :P. Thanks very much for the posts guys.

Yes I've had an addiction to Europa Universalis 3: In Nomine since May, that game is truly full of win.
