When I play any of my games, they always freeze after a couple mins of playing... My comp has always been fine and had no problems before. Could it be my HDD dying? I am running low on disc space (15gb) could that be the problem?

Specs

3x250gb hdd

AMD Phenom 9850 x4 2.6ghz

Nvidia 8800gts

4gb ram

Windows 7

BTW, it seems to freeze alot quicker on GTA4, freezes in like 30 secs of playing.

Thanks in advance

run a defrag and get more ram those are the two primary reasons for games locking up (if its not one.. its the other)

What about overheating? What about viruses/spyware? What about problems on the HDD?

Of course. You're supposed to clean a gaming PC every 6 months or so....

Yeah try to delete a bunch of junk on the the drive where the swap file resides, this will allow the system to use more HDD space (Yes windows uses HDD space no matter how much RAM you use, unless you have alot of RAM( if you didnt use swap file then everything would go slooowww, unless like 20GB RAM maybe 10)) Also do usual maintenance CCleaner, MSE, compressed air, windows defrag utiltiy, and a few other things are all things you should know your way around, if you dont, take it to someone who can fix your PC.

Hmm.. I tried cleaning the comp and also have cleared up some space but still having the same problem (Havn't defragged yet.)

I just thought... the games that I am playing are: GTA 4, FALLOUT 3, BATMAN AA and DEAD RISING 2. They all use GFWL, could this be the cause?

my guess would be overheating, since you state that GTA4, which is the most demanding out of your games, freezes much quicker than your other games. Just cleanout all the dust in your PC and you should be fine.

Ops, didnt see your other post. Well its possible that something in the background is interfearing, like anti-virus etc
