I'm in love with Metro 2033, I love how it doesn't hold your hand and how rich the atmosphere is. I've played so many games this year and none of them have the immersion that Metro has and I'm wondering if there are any other games that I missed because they weren't rated the highest. Games with immense detail and exploration where the combat actually bares weight, when you're alone in a desolate landscape you actually feel alone, when you go into a dark hallway you're actually a little hesitant, stuff like that. I just played through borderlands 2 and it's the antithesis of what I mean, it's run gun and oogle the pretty graphics. In Metro there are traps, there are weird psychological events etc. etc. There's got to be more games out there where the game world feels so detailed and rich you just want to explore it.
I'm open to rpg's or any kind of game, I played TW2 but didn't really like the gameplay, same with skyrim. Seems like detailed worlds in rpg's have mediocre gameplay at best because it's so complicated they can't make the gameplay very good.
I've obviously played stalker, it's cool seeing the stalker references in Metro, I did not know about it at all going in and thought it was really cool.
